My understanding of this album is that it's about the toll the music industry takes on its artists. This is especially apparent in t.m.o., where it seems to talk about parasocial relationships and the commodification of artists. I realized that almost every song on the album uses the well known Amen Break, and I think that's a great representation of artists being neglected. The drummer who made the amen break, Gregory C. Coleman, ultimately died homeless, broke, and forgotten. Although the amen break maybe the most well known motif in modern music, and samples of it were remixed into songs that made millions, he never received royalties or credit or work.

@@Boohahascaredyou jet set radio ost, most of hideki naganuma's work, breakbeat from random websites like newgrounds, gorillaz, fatboy slim, a lot of music from early y2k rhythm games like o2jam and audition, and if you live in asia, then the random unnamed tracks you hear playing the background of arcades back when arcades were a huge thing. just a whole vibe out there. takes me back, and makes it hard to accept that 20 years is considered a long time ago and i'm growing old lol
