It's not so much speed but attitude. You SLAM the yoke forward instantly when you lose power on departure (or the high pitch climb will kill all your speed in 2 seconds). If you don't pitch down immediately, then it's almost too late to try and regain it at low altitude, a dead engine, and a windmilling prop....
