Many new ceiling fans has this horse shit wattage limiter installed from the factory that makes the lamps dim. They will not properly light up a 60 watt bulb - Frustrating and with newer fans, you can't bypass them - Two minute fix - Bam!!! Hope this helps someone

If you're experiencing poor lighting from the ceiling fan light and are using a remote or remote type switch (receiver installed in fan) simply press and hold the light button down on the remote. You'll notice the light either begins to get dimmer or brighter. You're welcome America.

I would try changing the dip switches on the receiver in the fan and in the remote to some other code ensuring it's the same code in each. It's usually a white little box labeled 1-4 with two positions each. Like the first 2 up and last 2 down.

The wattage guidelines for fixtures is actually based off the heat that that bulb puts out so the led bulbs put out way less wattage and way less heat therefore you could actually go up to a 100 watt equivalent led bulb without any issue at all. Tonnes of light and you are still saving money on power.

Limiter may be inside the motor housing. You would have to take the blades off, then remove the motor housing then bypass the limiter, then put motor housing back on and blades back on. Limiter would eventually fall apart more, and this method may not work anymore in the future.

??? From all the fans I've seen (many dozens) all the bulbs and replacement LED bulbs operate on 120 volts AC. You may want to make sure you get "dimmable" LED bulbs (a few $ more). The LED bulbs draw less power (same voltage, less current) so there's less heat. Agree that this video was too long (as is this note! ;-)

wHY ARE DIMMABLE led BULBS NECESSARY?
@EarlAlvinDaniels
@EarlAlvinDaniels 7 жыл бұрын
Dylan McClelland Dimmable LED bulbs are only necessary if your fan has a dimmer function. The electronics surrounding the LED elements may not function correctly if a regular LED bulb is put on a dimming circuit. LEDs themselves operate on quite low voltage, somewhere around 1.8 to 3.3 volts. House current in the US is 120 volts (AC). Electronic circuitry is needed to convert the voltage. The design of that circuitry is more complex for dimmable LEDs, since it has to pulse-width modulate the power to the LEDs to create the dimming effect. (aren't you glad you asked? ;-)

Also the dim light has nothing to do with the wattage limiter, if LED light on the other socket is bright. Wattage limiter either dims all bulbs in that circuit or none, not specific bulbs. In other words, all bulbs on that circuit have the same voltage. The LED did not appear to get any dimmer when you screwed in the incandescent bulb.

@@CeilingFanVideosOnYT LED bulbs usually don’t dim as well as incandescent bulbs so if it was dimmed, It would also make sense. It’s probably not the bulb’s fault as it’s 60 watts, Not 15 watt or something.

@@CeilingFanVideosOnYT Some Dimmable LEDs don’t dim well.
@coolrobuxgaming
@coolrobuxgaming Жыл бұрын
I think the bulbs that come with it might be 130 volt bulbs which makes the bulb significantly dimmer for the same wattage. Maybe the LED bulbs are just not dimmable like they say so it lights a lot brighter than the incandescent. LED bulbs that are dimmable tend to be brighter than the incandescent bulbs that are dimmable which is why they light brighter. It probably dims the incandescent bulbs and the LED bulbs it’s just not as noticeable for LED bulbs especially since this is an older video so most dimmable LEDs don’t dim well. DO NOT USE NON-DIMMABLE CFL/LED BULBS IN THIS CEILING FAN. If you do it may cause them to flicker due to the limiter. As no way that’s how they are always going to light. Probably just the ceiling fan that lights them dim. But I can use the dim bulbs if I want a night light on the ceiling fan as they look so dim to the point they can be used as a night light. The incandescent bulb also looks severely under driven as the incandescent bulbs are glowing orange, Not even yellow. So the reason why the LED is glowing brighter is probably because the dimmability is not nearly as good as an incandescent. Some of the newer dimmable LEDs, might appear dim as well as they dim a lot better than the older ones. Sometimes lights go dim when the wattage limiter goes bad. And as far as candelabra bulbs tho, many chandeliers use those types of bulbs are they definitely appear a lot brighter then these ones in the fan. I believe in 2006, ceiling fans were required to have wattage limiters.
