One of the first tools I purchased that really made me feel like I was building a legitimate shop was my planer. Being new to these machines, I became frustrated when boards stopped feeding properly and wood started burning. It felt unsafe to have to force boards through the planer by pushing in and then pulling out. I eventually learned that the rubber wheels can lose their grip because of dust and dirt buildup. Simply cleaning them can make them tacky again. When you wax the metal sled on the underside as well, boards slide easily and the self-feeding mechanisms work like new. It also helped to rotate my blades when they started to dull, but that will have to wait for another video.
