The 2 Book of 2 Peter was written towards the end of life. Peter was alarmed that the false teachers who had begun to infiltrate the churches strongly emphasized the authenticity of the Word of God and the sure return of the Lord Jesus. Many of the early Christians were Jewish converts When Peter referred to the “prophetic word” of the Old Testament in 2 Peter 1:19-21, he in turn denounced false prophets and claimed that true prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit who spoke through them 2 Samuel 23:2. It is very important to know how to distinguish between truth and error. Peter gave us the same recipe for growing in faith 2 Peter 1:5-11. The foundation of our faith.
