One of the main skills that separates high level players from low levels players is the ability to receive an incoming shot that has speed on it and send it back slower than it came in, and keeping it short in the court and low crossing the net. It requires great feel and ball control to hit with such precision.
Where does this skill show up in pickleball?
It shows up on primarily two shots. These are must have shots if you want to be competitive at the 4.0 and above level.
They are the drop and the reset.
Advanced players end up hitting these two shots the most as compared to any other level of play simply BECAUSE they are two of the most difficult shots yet the also happen to be two of the most helpful shots. Advanced players generally have the highest level of skill and control on their shots so they are the most capable of hitting these 2 shots whereas other players end up missing these early and often or opting for an easier option like hitting back hard because they’re afraid of missing even though it’s often a less effective option.
Let’s dive deeper into why these shots are so effective and how you can ramp up the amount of times you’re using these shots and making them which basically by default will make you a more advanced player.

Sorry for the late reply I've been dealing with recovering from an injury and a big move across country. What a great Christmas present! I'm glad you find the videos helpful! Here is a link to my YT playlist for all videos I have made on the Slinger Bag. Whenever I make a new video for the Slinger Bag I add it there. kzbin.info/aero/PLf5SOZbiy_ZgdxeFYjoYW-hoLUAc6v52T

Yes, my wife and I always wear our safety glasses when using the ball machine! Also I put a tube under the front of the ball machine to give us higher lobs too.

You note that the ball machine should deliver the balls below the net for practicing resets from the transition zone. Isn't that also true for practicing resets at the kitchen line? If a ball comes to you above the net (like at 6:13 in the video) when you're at the kitchen line shouldn't you generally attack it? I find resetting a received high ball is a lost opportunity and often leads to another attack from my opponents.
