I know I've been doing a lot of maintenance stuff recently, if these aren't for you I apologise but it is winter and we are locked down sadly. Riding videos will return with a vengeance when they can :)
Anyway this is the requested video on the 2 piston rear caliper rebuild. Very straight forward really and not a huge amount different from any other caliper you will ever have to do. They all follow pretty much the same pattern :) I do hope this video is helpful for some of you :)
If you enjoyed the video please give a like and think about subscribing to the channel :) Also please share the video if you can :)
Thanks for watching!

I hope these videos are helping someone out there! The callipers were surprisingly fine to do I think, either way I've enjoyed doing them, I find stuff like this really rewarding :) On to the next project!! :D

Thanks for the video, picked up a 99 600 srad and was definitely a project got a steal of a price on it but definitely worth the work, most likely gotta rebuild the rear caliper I got off eBay, this video definitely will save me thanks

i have used Red rubber grease a number of times with no problems. Even some new seals come with a tiny packet of it. You can also heat the caliper up with the seal in place which will make everything expand and the piston will go in much easier.

Good to hear, I was 100% confidant is using it anyway but sometimes the abuse you cop from people it's easier to just say it's grand up front. I have heard that too, thankfully didn't have to, me and fire don't usually mix 😂😂

I agree with Mr Frank Conlon. This is because general grease has a component that expands the rubber and may hinder the sealing effect. I used to be a teacher at an automobile mechanic school, but this was a deduction. Red rubber grease should be used around rubber parts.

You'd never know when you might need to rebuild a 2 piston calliper :D But that's high praise indeed thank you!! :) You absolutely should at least try one, they're a very interesting experience, very very different from other bikes really. Thanks man, I really appreciate that :)

Good one. Is the hose looped tp avoid the axle and chain adjusters? Banjo bolt because the fitting it goes through on the end of the hose resembles a banjo...... they say. Would play well. Looking forward to seeing it on the road.
@TheGorillaBiker
@TheGorillaBiker 3 жыл бұрын
I did think that afterwards, I think you're right!! There seems to be missing a little holder for the swing arm to help the looping so I'll fashion something :) Ahhhhhh that makes....some form of sense :D Me too, should be very soon :)

These videos are helping me. I like that you are ahead of me, in racing, it's always easier to follow then to lead, turns out the same is true for GIXXER revival's! 😂 I hope I don't need compressed air to get the pistons out but I guess it will make for a good vid if I have to. Good tips. What grit sand paper did you use? I to have no idea why they call them banjo bolts. Good video!
@TheGorillaBiker

Glad to hear that man so much! :) Haha that's a fair point, maybe I should have let you go ahead 😂😂 There was no hope of anything else but someone in the comments suggested a grease nipple and a grease gun will gently push them out :) Far safer than air! I used 1000 then 2000 grit, just to knock off any corrosion. :) Thanks man :)

Oh I'll be keeping it. I won't keep every bike I do but I was looking at this one a long time before I got my hands on it, as of now I've no intention of letting it go anywhere. I won't use it a whole pile but likely.for some short summer blasts and track days etc.
