Don't rent out your bike with this company Riders-Share. I was renting out my bike for several yrs until a oppurtunist, liar renter borrowered my bike and returned it damaged. Hole and carved marks on my side fenders. Jacked up clutch & gear. Renter changed my bike's tires without my permission on an expensive shop and Riders-share charged me for it without telling me after the bike's tires was changed. Very unprofessional. Asked the company for insurance claims but refused it and deleted my account. Very deceptive company. Dont rent it out unless you want your bike ruined someday and you will pay for the renter's mischevious, irresponsible use of your bike.

Ah! WV is beautiful. I am close (Pittsburgh, PA) will attempt that ride later this summer/early fall. As far as which bike?....Either would be fine but I would lean toward the V-Strom. Actually, I would prefer the bike I just finished setting up for sport touring....a 2019 Z900RS.... Akro headers with Ivan tune and airbox mods, Shad SH23 side bags, Chic Design Masque Road bikini fairing (color matched) and a nice tail bag. Comfy and sporty ( I'm 6ft and 170lbs). I am looking forward to some trips on it! I don't think there is such a thing as too many overlooks....not that I would necissarily stop at all of them but it is nice to have those options! Excellent video Dude! As always, I enjoy the content. Keep 'em rolling! 😎🍻🏍👍

17:50 You want to FILL those sleeves that the master link goes through with grease. That is the grease the o rings are sealing in, where the pins of the master link rotate inside the sleeves, because, once you flair the pins, you can never get grease inside the sleeves again, without removing that link and replacing it. I hope I'm clear. This is the number one reason a link fails (besides clip on master links and the clip on backwards). The chain ends have a sleeve from outside to inside. The link pins/spindles/shafts go through them. The o rings seal that area between the master link cover plates (the figure 8 flat pieces of metal with the rivet through them) locking the grease inside for the life of the chain. If the grease isn't there, or if its not packed, just like you would pack roller bearings with grease (except its just one roller inside one race) that link will be where the chain fails first. The compression of the o rings (or x or Z rings) is the important way to see if you have them riveted tight enough. The o ring should be squeezed as much as the factory ones. Over doing it is very hard to reverse and very bad. Also, since you will throw a code if your rear ABS sensor is damaged, and it will disable your entire ABS system, I would be more careful with it. If you are doing off-road and want a better way to disable your ABS than pull the fuse or break the sensors, put a "normally on" push button momentary switch on your handlebar and run an extension from your ABS fuse to the normally on momentary switch and then back to the ABS circuit. Your ABS will function normally. If you push the momentary switch, it will fault your ABS (ABS will be entirely disabled) but as soon as you turn the ignition off and back on, the code will self clear, the ABS will be working normally, until you kill it again with the switch. It's a more "elegant" solution. And is really helpful on steep slippery or sandy descents where you want to use the locked rear wheel to control your speed. And, last, when torqueing with thread locker, read the thread locker instructions. Loctite says it takes 24 hours for the thread locker to cure. If you go ride immediately, your thread locker strength may be compromised. Also, there is really a thing called wet torque and dry torque. Please, if your bolt doesn't specify a "wet" torque, don't apply thread locker or anti-seize or some other lubricant and use your dry torque readings. You will over-torque your bolt/nut. Loctite says to use 20% less than the dry torque, to avoid not over torqueing. Suzuki gives the wet torque measurement when they specify a thread locker. A bolting system with torque ratings is an elastic system that normally assumes you don't need a thread locker. In the case of the front sprocket nut, the manual is giving a "wet" torque measurement, which Suzuki always uses in the manuals when they specify a thread locker, but they don't spell out that the torque is "wet".
@TheGorillaBiker
@TheGorillaBiker 5 күн бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by fill tbh, the hollow section that you mushroom out? I wouldn't ever pack that with grease as it wouldn't ever go anywhere. I did grease the entirety of the roller and o ring before sealing it up. I've fitted a lot of chains over the years and have never had a master link fail, including in Ireland where most of my riding was (sadly) in rain. If you watched that section of the video I measure the outside dimensions of the pre assembled links and always match that. On the ABS sensor, each to their own amigo, I've never damaged one either. Things can sometimes look more rough on camera than they are. Can't remember exactly what I did there that's caught your eye. I usually just pull the fuse if I really want it off, but a switch is certainly a good idea, I don't get to do much trails or gravel sadly though at the moment, maybe one day! I'm actually a mechanical engineer, so preaching to the choir, however in my manual all wet torques are specified with a liquid drop symbol, the front sprocket didn't have that from memory, hence why I stuck with the specification. I'd have to rewatch the video to really see what has caused you concern, but I hate my own voice so I'll avoid that :D Makes editing hard. I must look that up on the loctite website though, good shout, I hadn't seen they specified a full 20% less, I know anti seize or oils can be up to 40% less depending on what is is etc.
@TheGorillaBiker
@TheGorillaBiker 3 күн бұрын
Thought you might be interested, did some tests at work today as we have some equipment for said testing. Fresh loctite makes 1-3% difference, so negligible, to torque applied, that was blue and red. I then googled it and found a channel that had also tested this, and anti seize. Interestingly out of date loctite did make a difference.

Glad to find an Irish review on a tyre that I'm interested in for my 2008 650DL V-Strom. Irish roads are brutal in regards to tyre longevity. This is because we don't have any gravel pits here with nice round washed grit. All road grit here is produced from crushed rock. The grit is sharp and it cuts tyres down twice as fast as UK or Continental roads do. Add to that, rural roads in the West can be in an appalling state of disrepair. I'm just about to have Mitas M50s mounted on my newish Royal Enfield Hunter 350, as a French review indicated that they're a good sporty road tyre with good feedback suitable for small bikes (usually bias ply). Having decided on those, I realised that the tyres on my V-Strom are getting old. They still have a lot of tread life in them, but I fancy a change to something more road focussed (as opposed to the Anakees type 2 & 3) and the Touring Force happen to be what I've set my eyes on.

Why tying the clutch lever? When you pull the clutch lever, the piston goes forward / outside the master cylinder. Same as with the brakes.
@TheGorillaBiker

I called it out in the video, it's as directed by the service manual to keep the slave cylinder push rod in there, if the slave cylinder isn't engaged say the pushrod can pull out with the slave cylinder. Nothing to do with the master cylinder, altho I'm not sure what you mean by outside the master, when you pull the clutch lever the pushrod at the master pushes IN to the master to push fluid in the line.

Love the SV650 idea! I have always wanted one of those bikes, especially the 2nd or current generation. It may be worth looking at the Gladius, as well. As far as I know it was the same bike. I usually see lower resale value on those, because of the bad reputation due to the styling. I know several of the SV race parts Robem Engineering makes specifically list Gladius compatibility. If you were going to strip it down and put a race fairing on it anyway, it may be all the same. Just throwing it out there, I have little doubt you’re already aware of all that! 😄

I love it, but this one was crashed so I could afford it already and I fixed it up. The other issue is it's not for a track bike per se I need to meet certain class rules if I'm going to race, so it's easier just get an SV650

@@TheGorillaBiker got it.. The sv650 is a fantastic bike specially for the track aftermarket parts is huge. Pls try to keep the Rs I really like your videos. You may not believe it but you’re one of the reasons I purchased mine two years ago when you did a video with the dark green Rs with the black cowl and how you like that bike.

Exactly, and it covers a big range of classes I can ride in. It is very unlikely I will sell it tbh, it'll be an absolutely last straw and hopefully be avoided, really don't want to sell it! Oh really!? haha that's cool, I'm glad you liked it after buying it :D

XSR900 ? 🤔 Nostalgic but with possibilities . . . . The SV650 is just a bike that leaves me cold. A lot of people seem to mod and race the, so that seems like a good road to take. Certainly better to go out there on something you are not paranoid about destroying. I still can't believe how short lived those tyres are 😯 I could not have afforded to go racing on those! Good luck with this new project. Looking forward to lots of race prep videos. 👍

XSR would be cool but even used they're pricey. My decision was honestly be made largely by the classes myself and Tom are aiming to hit, landed on an SV650, if we both have one we can race each other and then have a spare bike for team endurance races etc. Yeah the Q5S tyres will not be getting a kind review :D Thanks amigo :)

Do I buy another bike? Yes. Hahahahaha. Get an R1. Non registered for track only. BMW S1000RR. ZXR1000. GSXR1000. Sell the 900 even though it is beautiful. The Strombone’ is a great road bike.

Yes you should :P Not getting a 1000, limits the races I can enter and I'm not talented enough to use one anyway, I'd rather learn more going slower! :) I'm going to ignore that last sentence unless I have to follow this correct advice 😂😂

I bought and built an sv 650s after your old vid from your review. I found it a great beginner track bike. I put k tech front forks, hyperpro rear shock, brembo mc, hel lines and brembo pads. Running s22s as it doubles up as a road bike too. I'm only 5 10 and gen 1 I prefer. I think with your height gen 2 might be better. I found it to be good torquey nimble road/track machine. Great for mondello. Bit of a rolling road block on a fast straight though. Best wishes with the racing. Sv is loved there in the US.

It is indeed loved here, a gen 2 is 100% what I'd be going for, more so for the availability of classes to race in than the bike itself tho! Glad the vid helped you find a nice bike :D I miss Mondello. I'm already a road block in a straight line on the Z900RS tbh :D

Of course the grand plan is to not have to sell anything, which hopefully I can make work but time will tell! The main thing is I wanna race 😂

So Irish lol. We have neighborhoods not estates 😂 I say keep them all and buy more, always my answer. Lastly, I think sv650 is most bang for your buck, really fun bike

I dunnooooo they look like estates :P They call them subdivisions over this way also. Keep everything is the aim, but we'll see is that possible I need to buy a trailer as well for getting to the races. Yeah for sure and lots of support and parts for it too
