2 Products To Kill Weeds Fast WITHOUT Killing the Grass

I test 2 weed killer products to kill weeds fast without killing the grass. The two products are blindside and dismiss NXT. Both of these have the active ingredient sulfentrazone. I spray these on spurge, goosegrass and kyllinga. These product can discolor the lawn in hot weather or when sprayed on sensitive grass types. Weed control is not as easy job because sometimes it takes a certain product to control certain weeds. These two are versatile products to control many types of weeds in many grass types.

I had blindside mixed with sedgehammer going after sedges and kyllingia. I spotted some spurge hiding in a ditch, so I sprayed it. Turned brown in 2 days .

Blindside is awesome. I have some kyllinga (believe false green), lots of spotted spurge, and some nutsedge. After 3 days Blindside is putting the hurt on the weeds with minimal discoloration on Zenith Zoysia and no effect on common bermuda. In the past I've used Celsius/certainty, as well as sledgehammer. So far I am most happy with Blindside with the weeds I mentioned above. I went just below the high rate at 1 gallon per 1000/sqft with no surfactant.

You seemed to be using a narrow spray. Would the control have been better if you’d broadened the spray?

I know there are different species of crab grass and maybe even dallis grass too. But now its just outta hand with the goose grass. I have a disgrutled customer at the moment about goose grass which I will eventually destroy with the dismiss NXT. Normally these weeds will die but its like they are able to withstand the chemicals normally used because of different types of these grassy weeds.

Try a chemical with different M.O.A. weeds can adapt same as insects developing a resistance to certain insecticide used repeatedly

Is Dismiss NXT about the only thing that kills Goose grass? Seems like I have a lot of it in my front yard but don't want to break the bank to purchase Dismiss NXT.

Sulfentrazone is what kills the goose grass. Look for other brands with that in it. Spray it in the morning and be careful on hot days…

Blindside or Solitare WSL both have the same ingredient in Dismiss. It's cheaper, but you may have to up your rate a bit. No surfactant! Sulfentrazone will burn if you add a surfactant.

Speedzone will kill Goosegrass as well.

Great on Bermuda. Sulfentrazone will burn Zoysia beyond acceptable limits above 85F, even at half rate.

@DallasLawnGuy maybe, maybe not, but the weeds aren't dead, as you noted. After retreat, I'll bet the discoloration will be far worse. Add Revolver to the mix. You can reduce the sulfentrazone with the addition of Revolver. Two different modes of action. Also, Speedzone red label at half rate in early summer will smoke Goosegrass. Sulfentrazone is great with its initial burn down, but you usually need a second AI for complete kill off. Keep in mind I'm a professional and clients don't like discoloration, so I tend to lean towards products that won't burn or I use them below certain temps. Either way, keep on testing. It's the best way to learn.
