I live in Northern Louisiana where buttonweed is very tough to control. An effective herbicide I have tried is the post-emergent Fahrenheit. I have also tried Celsius and Image with no luck. The best method for me is to carefully fluff up the buttonweed plant to get all the fronds lay on top of the grass and then put a cardboard shield under it. Then wet the weed quite well with a sprayer and maximum dose of Fahrenheit mixed with water, and surfactant at double dose. The cardboard shield helps keep the herbicide off the grass. Then I let the weed sit for at least 5-7 days before mowing it into a bag. It is time consuming and a hassle but works. Also helps if the weather is warm and sunny enough to assist the killing power of the herbicide -- 80-90 F. I think pre-emergents may help some but ultimately I have to hit buttonweeds with a sprayer one at a time.

I have found after a good soaking rain, I can pull up privet by hand.If the ground is really soaked, they pop right out. Some are large so I use a hand tool called an "Extractigator". Super large ones, like the stumps in your video I will be attempting to pull with a come along hand winch. Not sure if I have the strength or not yet. If that doesn't work, I'll be attacking the stumps like you did. I tried a little cut and squirt with Triclopyr, but so far, I'm not impressed. Foliate overspraying seems really unhealthy, wasteful and not very useful, so I won't bother with that. But until I'm convinced I can't get the shrub up mechanically, I won't do the stump cut and paint method. That will be a last resort.

New house build we planted 12,000 sq feet of new lawn week of August 17 and had great success by September 6. After 8” of rain Sept 18 there were army worms coming out of lawn in tens of thousands onto sidewalks and garage pads. In 2 days every boar of grass was gone. Had to turn everything over again, had it all professionally treated, then started over. Luckily the weather held and we now have decent lawn. Question is when should we treat again.

I have Empire Zoysia, and it loves to spread. Keeps trying to take over flowerbeds that get good sun. As far as chinch bugs, nematodes and Army worms, from what I understand, most Zoysias are pretty resistant to them. Make sure to do soil testing, if you see issues. I had a few spots in which it just would not take, but the soil was too acidic. Added quick lime once a year for two years and most of these are now thick with zoysia. I let the Zoysia have a rear flowerbed that got full sun. I just raked it full of oak leaves. In about 2 years, the roughly 30x10 bed was completely covered in thick zoysia.

Laying Emerald Zoysia sod in my yard (Atlanta area) the last two years and this coming spring. Getting mine for $350/pallet and labor is $200/pallet includes scraping up old yard. Zoysia is slow everything including recover from post chemicals. I leave my new sod chemical free for a year. Have to keep it watered (correctly) and it goes in and out of dormant the same as my neighbors unwatered Bermuda. Grew some Emerald plugs in a pot for a year and roots went a foot deep all the way down to the bottom of the pot.

I have Zorro Zoysia. It’s pretty easy if you keep a schedule of fertilization, fungicide,and weed control. Also the lower you cut it the less fungus problems you will have. We cut ours at 5/8. I also spray insecticide twice a year to stay on top of that. Get a soil test every year and the labs will tell you how to maintain it.

I have a emerald zoysia lawn has a few bare spots and with weeds where the zoysia is thick little to no weeds but i have found a way that helps it spread making the runners crawl pretty fast and cover the bare spot...I tried this out this summer and was surprised at how fast it covered and thickened up pretty good in just a month or so...

Great video. I have zeon zoysia in my lawn and yes, it was not cheap, BUT it's established. I will never have to over seed etc. I've had to do very little work on it besides mowing/watering/fertilizer in the summer. My lawn used to be tall fescue, and my zoysia is MUCH easier to maintain. I'll also add that it greens up around March when I scalp it down and starts going dormant around December. It's almost the end of November right now and the zoysia is still green.

We are in North East Florida, on the Salt marsh side of Amelia Island. Zoysia is green all year here. During the last few hurricanes, our property was flooded with salt ocean water from the tidal surge. Our Zoysia was under the salt water until the tide went out, about 4 hours each time. i left the irrigation on for a day straight, hoping to dilute the salt water. The Zoysia did not suffer any damage, not a brown blade. Zoysia is a great turf grass. We will be also following your tips.. Thank You!

What is ‘pre or post emergent’ ?
@eckdavid24729 күн бұрын
Here’s what the google AI thing says. Pre-emergent and post-emergent are two types of herbicides used to control weeds in lawns: Pre-emergent Prevents weeds from sprouting by creating a barrier in the soil that stops weed seeds from growing. Pre-emergents are best for annual weeds like crabgrass, but they don't work well on perennial weeds with deep root systems. Post-emergent Kills weeds that are already growing by traveling down the plant stalk and into the root system. Post-emergents should be used after weeds have started to grow in the spring, and again in late fall to prevent weeds from coming back the following year. Using both pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides is an effective way to control weeds. Pre-emergents are a proactive approach, while post-emergents are reactive. For best results, apply pre-emergent twice at the beginning of the year, and post-emergent whenever you see weeds.

Jason what is a fair range for-profit margins for a single operator in the fertilization business? Keeping in mind that you are optimized, I imagine your numbers are close to ideal, but if I started tomorrow and I was serious, what would be a realistic expectation?
