Have you ever thought of designing a 3D printed 'liquid piston' type engine?It's similar to the rotary but instead of the triangular rotor you have an oval shaped one.I haven't seen anyone making one of these before and I might try myself to build one!
@CamdenBowen3 жыл бұрын
I've defiantly considered it but I'll need to deign a valve and timing system for the engine to work right but I want to make one soon!

Maybe put a little oil in there or grease to reduce the friction

damn this dude is a true dorito aficionado. can't wait to slap a pneumatic turbo on one of these 2 rotors lol. do you think that making the little reversing chamber thing 1) rounded and a smooth bend rather than 90° bends the air has to run into then turn around and 2) the same width as the "combustion" chamber and a constant diameter throughout so the air doesn't keep changing pressure and velocity, would gain enough efficiency to be worth a redesign?
@CamdenBowen3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man its what I do lol, The original single rotor I put out last video was so efficient that after being broken in could run just from blowing through it. Adding what you suggested would defiantly help and be an easy quick change of the CAD files to fulfill but just because of how satisfied I am with it I will probably hold off for now. This one however , its more of a matter that my compressor isn't great enough to run it that well as it doesn't have a very large tank nor does it put out enough pressure to run each rotor like how the single rotor did. I forgot to mention the fittings are kind of garbage and leak air meanwhile my last one the air was provided directly from the valve.
@misterdeedeedee3 жыл бұрын
@@CamdenBowen gotcha, can't argue with you there the single rotor is amazingly efficient which is ironic considering that gasoline rotaries are the polar opposite of efficient. I'll be waiting for when the revision bug bites you again, it would be cool to see a comparison in torque and runtime between the square chamber and a round one if you decide to implement it.

@@misterdeedeedee For now I think I'll set aside the classic dorito Wankel design, I'm currently working on a pneumatic liquid piston rotary engine and maybe that'll be something you're interested in seeing :)

That thing looks so sick! Not to be rude, but does it actually produce any compression? Genuinely curious! You deserve so much mor subscribers lol I’m surprised your channel hasn’t exploded with content like this!
@CamdenBowen3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! in truth this engine barely has any compression however with some sanding and grease it would be easy to seal it better however it would increase the friction greatly and require a more powerful air compressor
@minercraftal3 жыл бұрын
How did you dealt with the overheat problem from surface scrabbling from each other?
@CamdenBowen3 жыл бұрын
There isn't enough friction between the parts to create any heat

save some air pressure. run the exhaust from one rotor directly into the air intake of the second. old trick used in steam engines
@CamdenBowen3 жыл бұрын
Good idea however, it would require more valves as the exhaust leaves a chamber before the appropriate time
