Thanks Pastor Skip - God striking Uzzah dead is somewhat puzzling. As you described, him and his brother Ahio were transporting the ark in the wrong way using the cart. But only Uzzah was struck down but not Ahio. Apparently Uzzah put his hand on the ark to keep it from falling off the cart when the oxen stumbled. But what else was he supposed to do? - just let it fall on the ground? Just seems that since both brothers were moving the ark the wrong way they both should have been struck down - not just poor Uzzah. Even David is partially responsible because he should have directed the levites to move the ark the right way. Just seems like Uzzah got a raw deal, but it highlights the absolute holiness of God and the consequences of not following His specific directions. Perhaps God had mercy on Uzzah afterwards and put him up in a nice mansion anyways! God bless.
