Oh my gosh... I just want to THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting the most incredible video of the EZ-Level's ever! Love the small buisness care, im happy others like me exist and support that to the end. As a designer, artist, and contractor, Id like to respectfully offer some feedback hopefully you'll find constructive. Only 3 of these are needed to make a plane and level a row. The others can be a simple support dropped by gravity and locked into place. Would lower cost overall per row and speed the whole process. Countersink the bottom screws. Id love to see this built in high end cabinets. Keep on keepin' on. Dont stop, there is plenty of innovation to be made, time is money, save us both & You cant lose.

For a DIY guy who may only ever level cabinets one time, these things were an absolute dream come true. I watched KZbin video after KZbin video on shimming with wood shims, and I was dreading the job and the frustration. With no experience I knew that only after a bunch of swearing, sweating, and wasting time would I begin to feel remotely comfortable with it, and probably around about the time the job was finished. When I found the EZ Level online and watched their videos, it immediately made far more sense to me. Why spend the time becoming proficient at using wood shims for what might be my one and only cabinet leveling project, when the EZ Level system is so incredibly easy? Like others have mentioned here, our granite installers also asked who installed the cabinets. They said it was the first install they've had in a long time where they didn't have to shim the countertops. That, on my very first cabinet install. Great product, and absolutely zero buyer's remorse.

Just build a separate level kick base first. Then set the kickless boxes on the level base. There is no denying that this is the best system. There is also no denying that using wood shims, especially at the back of the cabinets really sucks.
@KeithOlson2 жыл бұрын
This *IS* the gold standard. We had to have three cabinets completely replaced because of water damage. If the original contractor had used separate bases, that would have been all that needed to be swapped out.
@brookscourtney47322 жыл бұрын
We did for years (like most installers), but what a time suk! First you have to acquire the materials (lumber)... then layout and build it... then "level" it... the carefully set the cabinets onto the new base... then fasten them. Really? With the EZ's, we simply install them (15 minutes)... the level them (5-8 minutes). Done. Perfect. Waterproof. Stays put.

Hey guys, outstanding as always. Because cabinetry boxes are constructed dead-on sized, I usually lay in the back shims set dead-on to my reference line, then lay the boxes in on top, adjusting the accessible fronts. Also by sharing shims (resting joining boxes on the same shims) it easily assists the set up. Great innovative ideas but these could get a little costly are large builds. I usually buy an under coarse bundle and three songs on the radio and I've split half a pack into 3" shims. Thanks, you guys kick ass.
@fhuber75072 жыл бұрын
I've been seeing suspended cabinets a few inches off the floor. No toe kick. Bolted to the wall. If the sink or dishwasher floods the kitchen, you have about 5 inches before the cabinet is sitting in water. It takes a bit of blocking pre-installed behind the drywall so you can be certain of hitting something solid with any screw, rather than hunting for studs. The tiny space of EZ-Level lets dirt in, but no access to clean under. The suspended cabinets, you can get under to clean. I like clean.

In Australia we have either cheap plastic threaded legs that we wind up and down to level then screw a kick front to cover them. Or a seperate kick frame and cabinet system where the kick frames are scribed to the floor then cabinets places ontop Or a french cleat system of screwing a rail to the wall and hanging cabinets Largely most cabinetmakers/installers use the kick frame system. But there is often a combination of systems too.

A little more time in the shop but a lot easier once it’s time to install.

Shims are by far the fastest and easiest way to level base cabinets. I've used this method as a kitchen installer for 47 years. It's simple and foolproof and will work as easily on a run of 2 cabinets or a run of 10 cabinets. Use 2 shims stacked together in opposing directions. Place them on the sides of the cabinet under the corner of the cabinet where needed. Use a small pry bar to just take the weight of the cabinet off the shims and it’s easy to raise and lower the corner of the cabinet to the desired height by sliding the shims back and forth along their length. Repeat on all four corners of the cabinet as necessary to level it. When you place the next cabinet in the run it will sit on the ends of the shims protruding from the first cabinet. That automatically sets it the same height as the first cabinet. Shim the other side of the second cabinet to level it and fasten it to the first. Then just continue in the same manner along the entire run of cabinets. The only shims that will need to be trimmed are the ones at the ends of the run.

I'm in the midst of a house remodel, and going into it, I had no experience in... well, any of it. Hence my finding this KZbin channel several months ago. (I love the channel, by the way!) Lucky for me, I got the opportunity to install cabinets in our kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Fortunately our kitchen cabinet design contractor recommended these EZ Levelers. We spent the money for them for all the cabinets that are eventually going to have quartz countertops installed on top. However, we didn't buy them for some of our floor-standing 8-foot-tall cabinets. I had to use shims. But having already personally experienced the EZ Levelers, I wished I had bought them for all the tall cabinets too! I wasted more than 2 days getting those cabinets plumb and level with shims on sloped floors and walls out of plumb. It would have only taken an hour with the EZ Levelers. I don't stand to make any money from posting about this, I'm just a happy do-it-yourselfer in Oregon that wants to echo the sentiment of this video. I really like and appreciate this product and want to point out that they shine even more in complex kitchen countertop scenarios like mine where I have 3 lower cabinets in a run where 1 of them is offset at a 45 degree angle. Leveling those with shims alone would have been a nightmare, but it was easy and relatively stress free.

Thanks for the demo! I have seen these for a while now and had considered the cost vs time? After years of setting cabinets i have a maybe a different approach to setting base's than you. I only buy "cedar shims" and if i went through a whole bundle on and install??? that kitchen would be a horror show. But I also do not always shim UP. Typically most kitchens that are significantly out half gets shimmed up and the other half gets planned down. This has a lot to do with design variables ( to numerous to discuss hear ) but in a nut shell any visible exposed end I want touching the floor ( I am not a "SHOE" fan and is not typical in my area, especially around my toekick ) So "frustration Levels" are manageable only because it has become part of the job. I certainly see the time benefit the same as the expense vs. time when using "Schluter" products. Cheers

We use Rails back on the Wall, hang it on, the Feet are adjustable. Done! The Fridge is all build in. And all the Floors are covered, mostly Tiles.

EEZ Level has been around for awhile. The more you use them the the quicker it will get. Bath utility room cabinets are easily done with this system. Just figure the cost and add it to the bid. No stress and you’ll save so much time.

These for sure seem pretty slick, though expensive, esp in CAD.. and cross border ordering. FWIW- I always set the first cabinet and then the others to that one. Two crossed shims like you do installing doors leaves a platform for the next cabinet.. also ez pz.

We did the ez levels. 100% recommend. Made life low stress and easy for one person to level cabinets. Yes additional cost, but the cost was well worth the time and energy to level cabinets in a 100 yr old house that was 1 1/4” out of level across the kitchen.

Oh yes... got to love those 100 year old homes! They are the reason we exist! lol

We don't have this issue in England all cabinets come with adjustable feet/legs that you can screw up or down to ensure they are level. not really under standing why your cabinets don't come with them.

Have you hung IKEA cabinetry? They use a great system using a heavy Guage bar that runs the length of the upper & lower boxes. The feet are adjustable thread type. 1 person job.

In the UK we use 2 part screw adjustable plastic feet, they are around £3.00 for a pack of 4.

@stud pack 9:11 Paul, is that Klein’s new impact flip socket, or actually the 14-in-1 HVAC Adjustable-Length Impact Screwdriver with Flip Socket - model: 32304 (Klein sent me one and like it, BUT the circle plastic that retains/holds bits in slots and separates from inside handle, already let loose and all bits fell into handle and was aggravating b/c couldn’t close or open bit storage. So, wish was 1 solid piece, or better yet, metal and welded together instead of glued, but they sent me new 1 next day and was able to keep broken; so great CS Agents☺️👍🏻…..(sure does look like the gold standard Malco bit, but w/ a little secret up it’s hole…imo, kinda cool cuz never fails when using a malco ¼” or 7/16, etc…ya need a driver bit and gotta remove the Malco bit. Sure hope Malco isn’t like Klein’s flip bits and will accept a “driver bit” b/c after all these years, I’d feel so so so stupid😂🤣 ✌🏻

I used these for my kitchen island, my slab was way off..I was pulling my hair out trying to level with schisms. Ordered these and wow they worked great.

Here we always do the footings seperate frome the cabinates so this is never a problem. But for this use case that easy level stuff seams like a good idea if you can afford it. I love seaing stuff like that, always good to see people figuring out ways around pesky problems.

Do you mean you set up a base first, then place the cabinets on top?
@woodstover2 жыл бұрын
@@s-w When they installed my neighbor's cabinets they did the exact same thing. Made a 2x4 base, levelled that then installed the cabinets on top. Slick! I'm west coast BC, CDA.

This is how I did it when I built custom cabinets for my kitchen. It's so easy to level a 100mm platform that you can see and reach easily.
@superextradeluxe2 жыл бұрын
My cabinet shop uses black plastic levelers, just reach in and turn them to raise and drop the cabinet, toe kicks clip into the legs cleanly using an ajustable clop. They cost less than 2$. Alternately, you can use a full-length plywood rail and level it properly with a lazer line, then drop your cabinet run on top, kinda like leveling out the floor. Most cabinets we produce are full overlay with no notched gables; it is a waste of space and material. Every gable takes 4" of extra material that adds up. Not hating on the levelers, most cabinets are CNC cut these days, and they make the pinholes for the plastic levelers, 1 screw and pressure fit, and you are done.

My wife and I installed plywood filler strips on the floor first (to account for our floating LVP floor) and then used shims on top of that. Talk about frustrating. I wish I knew about these 3 months ago.
