I was going to have to pay thousands to have my continuous, laminate floors redone because of the squeaking. A couple of $12 bottles of bike chain wax have made my floors silent. Can’t believe the fix was this easy.

This worked wonderfully well on my 12mm thick laminate flooring. I had some problem spots between planks that would creak when walked over, and this solution completely quieted those areas in seconds. I used Finish Line Ceramic Wax Bicycle Chain Lube in particular, so I can recommend that product. This is a must try if you have this problem.

incredible and such an easy looking fix. I wondered if the liquid form of this wax is an issue to the laminate composite as it soaks in? liquid and laminate are not compatible ?

I have about 700sq of laminate that creaks. Would putting this in every crack be too much? Would it be impossible to replace the floors with all that wax in between?

I will try this. My laminate flooring creaks a lot which I believe is due to the flooring being lad on uneven particle board. I wonder if there is a way to fill under the board without redoing them?

I am confused. The bottle you are holding up appears to be WD-40 Wet Chain Lubricant, which the manufacturer says does not contain wax (and might also stay a liquid?). WD-40 dry chain lube also contains no wax. Another KZbin video recommends Finish Line Wax Bike Lubricant (black bottle) but I am finding that hard to source locally. Stores here do sell Finish Line Dry Lubricant, which goes on similarly but does use a synthetic oil (with Teflon). I can also easily get Finish Line Ceramic Wax Chain Lube and White Lightning Clean Ride MTB Wax Lube. Which of the products I named do you think would work well?
@peters7698 Жыл бұрын
I had similar thoughts on difference between WD-40 wet vs dry chain lube. Thanks for mentioning the finish line wax as I plan to try that out as well (it was readily available on amazon). I suspect the differences between each brand are going to be slight (likely not noticeable) and the lubricant will either work or not for everyone's individual use case. Hope you're able to find a resolution..

As someone who’s admittedly fine with half assing this (it’s in a spare room and i need to stop buying stuff for a single use lol) can I use regular WD-40 that I already have?
@alenk738 Жыл бұрын
@@GenericScreenName808 No. Regular WD--40 does not contain wax, which is the key ingredient that stops squeaks. It might work right away but the squeak will likely come back after a short time.

What do you recommend if the seams aren't large enough to put the wax between two laminate floor pieces (as in the laminate floors are too close together)?
@Davidsweirdness Жыл бұрын
Should get in there regardless these waxes are designed to do that you might have to apply it a bit more than he said
@danacuff79822 жыл бұрын
If the squeak is coming from underneath the vinyl board piece, (wd-40 in the seam has zero effect), will the vinyl laminate floor need to come up?
@soundproofguide2 жыл бұрын
It might need to if the rubbing pieces are too tight or too loose. A lot of the time simple lube can work but in other cases you might need to pull the floor up and make the necessary repairs.
