I just got a 30 degree north DDT-7 and was really scratching my head when I seen the 25:1 ratio! I’ve broken the motor in running that ratio and even fouled a plug. I’ve run dirt bikes and snowmobiles and my go to mixture was always 40:1. Thanks for the info!

Racing open 30.5 16 to 1 is the way to fly! Thats what the fast engine builders recommend. Quickdraw and Gizmo will both tell you that. They live a ton longer and no drop in performance. Pump gas is what a lot of the fast guys run as there is more btu in lower octane gas. A 2 stroke is also not prone to detonation.

Nice rip dude. Your low speed needle is running a tad lean. Thats where the low end bog is coming from when you nail the throttle and from the boggyness when you start the engine. Low speed needle only affects from idle to 1/3 throttle then the high speed needle takes over from 1/3 to full throttle. But if you listen closely you can hear the off idle bog im talking about. Should sound like braaappp braaappp brappp instantly when your mashing the throttle not buggraaap buggraaap buggraaapppp

50:1 baby!! Im in that same line of thinking too btw. I run 32:1 but that's only because I tend to favor the smokiness a little more than the slightly higher performance. But ye, what do you think about the fact that all these ancient 25:1 recommendations were from decades ago before the BAJA came out and most people were not running quality synthetic racing oils (like we do today). Probably with a non-synthetic oil the 25:1 is logical, what do you think>>>

@@kgm5512 yes, makes sense. but I will confirm that after I ran 25:1 for a while I did tend to foul the plugs and they were wet with oil. But I also did not do many high RPM passes all the time, so maybe if they do, it'll be ok.

@@kgm5512 I raced 125's, 200's, and 250's in MX and Offroad. I ran a 40:1 in all of em. You definitely have to know how to tune the carb properly. With them it was the proper jetting first, then fine tuning the carb. I was wondering though. With these engines, do you tune them like you would a weed eater or chain saw? I'm about to get me a 30 Degree North truck. For break in I'll do the 25:1 but after that I should be able to get lean it out to 40:1. What do you think? I rip my 15 year old CY 26 around in my Baja 5B like I stole it! Standard gearing - 17/57 - 49mph and 0-40 mph in 2.78 secs. 25:1 is far too oily. I've run 32:1 for a decade on Silkolene Pro 2 and the plug is perfect chocolate. Ambient temperatures plays a big part in how much oil you use. Plenty of people run with 40:1. 50:1 is extreme, but if it works for you .... The issue the last few years has been with E10 fuel. It isn't ideal for our RC 2 stroke engines or our garden tools, either. I try and get E5 or Super wherever I can. These fuels have additives that help with a cleaner burn and help the fuel store better over winter, too. Ethanol is aggressive to o-rings, carbs in general unless the engine was designed to run with E10. I'm pretty certain the Zenoahs and CY's aren't designed to run optimally with that fuel. And fun fact: To the creator of this video - I'm your doppelganger! No really!! 👍
