You know why you see so many two stroke fans on KZbin? Because the four stroke riders are out riding and enjoying life while the two smokers are inside looking up videos on how to fix melted pistons, destroyed reed valves, rebuild top and bottom ends, and they're also googling "Why does my dirt bike sound like a crappy weed eater"
@mrbenpmuir10 жыл бұрын
I agree and disagree I always rode two strokes I now have a yz450 and hands down its a better bike to ride . more torque reliable so long as you have proper maintenance . on a not I also love two strokes as well . every bike has its place . but for a daily driver and bike to hit the tracks and trails and be comfortable its the 4stroke that wins .
@StuffWithAlexGaming10 жыл бұрын
two strokes have their places in weed eaters and chainsaws. Other than that, they don't belong anywhere. Well, actually, 2 stroke 50s and 125s are pretty cool. But nothing bigger.

We're all riders, two smokers or four thumpers, so just get along and stop all the hate... seriously, we all ride. How about you go hate on the noise or pollution complainers because our bikes aren't nearly as loud as cars and trucks going down the road (with their loud ass stereos and tires) and we don't pollute barely at all, certainly not as much as a car.

Different strokes for different folks, i guess. I like 2- strokes because they are just more fun overall. Just think of the high-pitched howl, the vibrating handlebars, and the flying dirt. They just make more of a good time for me, unless I'm in tifht woods, That's what low gearing is for, and I just can,t seem to find a bike perfect for my woods. It's super tight and nasty, and the high seat on my CR250 just makes a bit harder to get that foothold on the root you,re trying to get her over.

“It takes a more talented rider to race the two-stroke, and I can see where it would be difficult for most of the current 250 four-stroke riders to make the change.” True story by Roger DeCoster! I don't even know why anyone could think of comparing a 250 4stroke and a 250 2 stroke, they're not even in the same class.. One thing is for sure the 2 strokes got more HP per cm3 and harder to ride.

Ridding in deep woods, Putting along slowly and exploring, I take my 4stroke. It can let it idle while I move branches etc. , low end power is nice for slow ridding and stopping frequently in the woods and I dont worry about getting stranded with a fouled plug. BUT! if I'm going out to the track, hitting jumps, and actually trying to win races, 2stroke all day. plus the smell of premix burning is nice. haha

also, 2 strokes are a good bit lighter than 4 strokes because they dont have heads, a cam, valves, timing chain, they dont have as many parts, they dont have an oil pan, therefor they are a lot lighter and have a better power-to-weight ratio. Since they dont have oil in the crank case, you have to mix oil with the gas to lubricate the engine parts. Lubrication is crucial and since 4 strokes store oil in the crank case, they are typically more reliable

@TheBiker25712 жыл бұрын
i agree, i think that 2 strokes are simpler, but u can ride a 4stroke forever on 1 top end, 2strokes need to be rebuilt every 4 years and that's if you don't race, of course it depends on the engine size, because you are more likely to be wfo on a 125 than a 250 and up, therefore a smaller bore is easier to melt a piston

2 strokes are usually good motors depending on who makes them, its just that 4 stroke are typically more reliable. The only form of riding I would (personally) want a 2 stroke bike for would be motocross/supercross racing. Or freestyle stunts. Anything other than that i would prefer a 4 stroke. Anything from trail riding with friends to enduro/baja racing i would personally prefer a 4 stroke.
@sethburcham718510 жыл бұрын
This is so unbeleivable a 250 four stroke stock is around 35 horsepower dependent on the make and model, a 250 two stroke is more around 50 horsepower dependent on the make and model this is no comparison, this is utter bull shit obviously any person with a brain would pic a bike with more horsepower in a class ruled by 250 four strokes, the 250 two stroke will most likley always have the better lap time and own the track over a 250 four stroke.

I think is up to the rider. Good riders can use 2 or 4 strokes. Just get the maximum of the power band I ride 450 XC-W. Full happy with it, little bit heavy but powerful I would say something like: 300 XC trials into the mountains. Lighter and aggressive response 350 XC for training in a MX track. Good control, easy to handle. Smooth power 450 XC-W for long enduro trials. Comfortable to ride. Smooth power Nothing against 2-4 strokes, loving motorbikes. "Keep riding guys and enjoy your bike"

The rapid power you get once you hit the power band in a 2 stroke is just awesome, but a 4 stroke is more predictable and controllable, no doubt cc for cc a 2 stroke is better all around. Personally I own a YZ250F, but I don't race, I ride, and many public riding areas have restrictions on 2 strokes and I didn't want to be limited in where I can ride. And being a long time streetbiker I'm just more accustomed to engine braking more often then ever using the actual brakes.

2-stroke is lighter for sure. But anymore, I think the latest 4-strokes are probably about as fast as a 2-stroke (of the same cc size), and definitely more low down torque. Plus, I think company's are probably putting more time and money into the 4-strokes, since they are more popular now.

this shouldn't even be a question. if they want two strokes to compete against 250fs then maybe the big four should take the route that ktm took and basically bore out the 125 to a 150 or so. I understand the cost and logistics it would take to research and develop a whole new bike but if the ama or fim or whoever want 2 strokes to remain competitive, throwing a 250 smoker into the lites class is just unfair. what's next, a 450 2 stroke?
@jbog9012 жыл бұрын
Totally the same except for about a 200cc difference! Two strokes are lighter,harder to handle, easier to work on, and cheaper to upgrade. I like both, but I prefer 2 strokes, but more importantly I like anything with two wheels and a motor. Especially if it's in the dirt.
@DRZSuzook12 жыл бұрын
emissions had a part in it, but the biggest reason for going to big bore four strokes is the power delivery. Which one is easier to ride for a 30 minute moto, balls to the wall? A 450 thumper or a 250 pinger? You can go just as fast on the 450, but with smoother power delivery and more power throughout the powerband. BUT...IMO...2 strokes are still funner to ride. But whatever you ride...just stop arguing...just get on it and RIDE!!
@MrTmel12311 жыл бұрын
Do you know what you're talking about? lol. It's snappier once it is in it's power band. But not at lower rpms. A 2-stroke does have fewer engine parts, but that doesn't necessarily mean the engine will last longer. They don't last as long because they don't have an oil system that lubricates the crankshaft, rod, etc., which is why you mix oil in gas to cure some of that problem, but doesn't work as well as a 4-stroke. In MY opinion, 4-strokes sound better.
