DIOSpeedDemon I need to build one that works for large dogs, need to give the dogs access to the house without letting the cats out. Basically I want to buy one, open it and Make it work on my own locking system... problem is that I need the collar to pick up in a bigger area than that.

RFID chips only cost between $25-$50 depending on your vet. The chip is injected subcutaneous via syringe into your pets back in between the shoulders. The chips are NOT GPS. They are a passive chip that, when scanned with a RFID scanner, will reveal a unique number. This number is registered with internet databases that associate the number to your pets, and their owners, information. Why would you want to pay extra for a RFID tag that can get lost when getting your pet chipped once lasts a lifetime? If your pet is ever lost or stolen any vet can scan the chip to find out owners information. It also proves you are the owner of the pet.

Because every time a go to a vets office , they want 800$ to take the cats temperature. I figured they would call this 2 minute procedure, major surgery and ding me for 4 or 5000$ in fees. Luckily my vet always throws in a gallon jar of INDUSTRIAL VASELINE, with the bill, so it DOES NOT HURT SO MUCH....

Microchips in pets have been around for YEARS, and they're really inexpensive now. At my local vets it's about $25 for a nationwide chip and only $3 for a local county based chip. Basically, if you have a nationwide chip, when it's read by a chip reader, the information will show up on any chip network nationwide, this is great especially if you move or travel a lot with your pets. If you have the local chip, the information will show up only on the local network, so if your pet never leaves the general area, this is a good inexpensive option.

Also, they're not GPS trackers like you thought in the video. They only store an ID number that you can use to call and lookup the pet's owner. Like an implanted dog tag. All pets should have one (and most do).
