I just love it when Ornlu somehow missed the two starting Catapults almost entirely thru this level.

'Honorless cur' was in Attila 1 when you kill Bleda you during the boar hunt and come back to the village...the archers say Attila is an honorless cur for a leader this leading to a subsequent fight

The transport damaged is because of the bugged Replace object/Add HP effects... HP do not scale atm, be it when an object is replaced by another, or when you add HP to a unit. It has been so for months now, affecting custom and official content, but the devs do not seem to hurry about it. Maybe you could send them an email or something, they'll hear it better from you no doubt.

In classic AoE1 an AI ally would IMMEDIATELY switch you to enemy if they were caught by a stray catapult shot(which was very easy to do), glad to see that’s not the case here :P

I often fought against demetrius on this scenario. On hard he has plenty of phalangites, and several cavalry and 4 ballistas. To defeat him is going to be a lot of comp bowmen and if he is close to the shores of Epirus, a lot of war galleys. They do massive damage against land troops. Though it did cost me most of the starting base... But once you vanquish Neoptolemus, just wall yourself in. Demetrius only goes after your main base and not the base you get once you have truly defeated Neoptolemus.

When I played this scenario, it bugged. Demetrius landed half of his army on the island next to his tower and could not get to me. So I just built a fleet and shot his helpless troops

Demetrius attacks you with a bunch of Cavalry and Phalangites. He quickly steamrolled by base as I was off killing Blue and I had to mass up archers behind the walls in red's old base and attrition him out until I killed every other player completely... I eventually had to mass up a navy and Kill soldiers that didn't land back where his burning transports were.

My playthrough of this scenario is actually quite similar to your playthrough, with 2 notable differences. The first difference was I opted to kill red's army instead of his towers, which made the section where he betrays you much easier (even though I amassed a bunch of units around his TC and betrayed him first). He does have dialogue when you march a bunch of units into his town while still allied with him, but I can't remember what it was. 2nd difference was the order of TCs taken out. The 1st 2 TCs were the same for you and me, but the order of the 3rd and 4th were swapped. I had overpowered blue on the water, so I opted to use my transport ships to bypass his walls and land troops directly on his TC, then I proceeded to just squeeze out the next TC. By the time those TCs had been destroyed, I was running out of time, so I quickly just sent everything I had towards cyan's undefended TC (to whom I had allied), betrayed him, and destroyed it with like 10 seconds to spare before Demetrius' invasion.

I'm curious, historically, what would be the most accurate way of playing this mission?
@juliantheapostate2263
@juliantheapostate2263 Жыл бұрын
Ally with Alex V. ( He made the bad decision to invite both Phyrrus and Demetrios to save his throne) Defeat Antipater. Let Demetrios kill Alex V. Historically Phyrrus then allied with Lysimachus to throw Demetrios out. They succeeded and divided Makedon. Afterwards Phyrrus would ally with Demetrios' son to try to defeat Lysimachus and become sole king of Makedon. Only to be driven back to Epirus by him and loosing all his macedonian holdings. (I love Diadochi politics and wars)

(Longtime lurker here, breaking silence officially :) ) I've only been playing on Moderate, so my experience may be different, but I found defeating Demetrius' army much easier than fending off Cyan in the last scenario. His army consists of a whole bunch of Cavalry and Phalangites, which are much easier to defeat than Centurions once you have a critical mass of FU Hoplites and defend the chokepoints near your base with towers and siege. Also, I'm really excited to see you play this campaign since its the strongest of the RoR ones imo. Lord Basse's AI banter really makes the experience!

This was not an easy mission for me on Hard. I sent my troops to take on Neoptolempus' Army by trying to either take out the towers first or reduce the number to five units, but got beaten twice. I wanted to use his army, thinking I will get his base. So, on my third attempt, I just micro managed, defeated them and got my revenge when they betrayed me later on and decided to ally with Lysimchus just to get the pressure off me with the sole intention of betraying him later. I will replay this scenario at some point to see how the others react to my choice of alliances and eventual betrayals.

I managed to bug this scenario accidentally :D When I did this scenario I was planning to let the 3 kings be at war with each other for as long as possible. After a while cyan attacks red and Pyrrus states he doesn't need allies and will win on his own. Not realising the ally option has a time limit I turned cyan to ally nonetheless. He got allied but the towers still shot at me (weird) and the other 2 kings didn't join forces against me. I didn't get the alliance dialogues either. I think it was even easier this way. By the way I massed a 40 cavalry army and just ran through all TCs before Demetrius arrived. Very fun scenario! One of the best so far.

Ornlu undecided between starting another attack on blue or taking care of red's betrayal ensuring a fight on 2 fronts, authentic Pyrrhus larping right there. Knowing purple was going to arrive from the east via sea, I allied with blue thinking I could use his access to the water to stop purples landing, ended up not being necessary tho... I actually found his ships with my navy, but you can't attack them, waste of wood.. Really fun scenario tho, the initial sneak attack, deciding on alliances, red's betrayal and all under a timer for an incoming enemy army, to bad they just give you way too much time, even to a slow player like myself. One fun thing you missed, if you mass an army on red's base before he betrays you he actually remarks on that; "Hey.. What are your troops doing here?" smth among the lines.

Hey Ornlu I know you talk to the devs often so I wanted to report a bug. Basically if you aren't able to complete this achievement in time some of Demetrius' men don't board the transport ships and because the devs didn't allow dock placement on the other side of the map the scenario becomes unwinnable since you can't get to the remainder of Demetrius' men.

What I did was defeat blue, and red, a bit of the yellow dude. Then fortify a big army on the bridge, archers behind. When the army spawns at the end. We had a big epic battle on the bridge. Fun stuff.

Dimitrius you need to be tactical with. I let him fight my ally (yellow) and his army arrived piecemeal along a bridge that I blocked off with hoplites, backed up with lots of composite bowmen to thin his numbers.

I think it's easier if you don't become allies any of three brothers. They not attack you even you attack one brother. Those brothers wars just make your's job easier, they sent most of theirs troops to face each others So you get easily defeat one-by-one those brothers.
