It’s sad to say, but the real reasons church attendance is down across the country is due to pastors across America not teaching and preaching directly from the word of God. Interjecting and altering the actual word of God to something that’s all inclusive, which becomes the teaching of something , other than the word of God . I guess the best scripture that comes to mind is 3-Timothy 3-1:10

Jesus said "Thou shalt the love the Lord thy God with all thy heart with all thy soul, with all thy mind and with all thy strength" And the second is this thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" On this hang all the law.and the prophets" There is no greater commandment than these" ( Mark 12 vs 30 -31) I knew these scriptures but didn't realise the importance of the whole of the second verse. I understood that I was to love my neighbour but neglected the "loving thy neighbour as thyself" My point is that only when I came to love myself in a godly way that I could really love and be merciful to others. There is the ungodly way of loving self whereby we make a god of ourselves and there is the commandment to love ourselves in the context of loving God.

Certainly they have. The original sin of Lucifer was; "I will exalt myself." When Adam and Eve took of the fruit, when Cain slew Abel, it was because of love of self, certainly not love of God. Every sin I can think of revolves around self, from sexual sin to abortion to theft and everything in between.

What does this mean- “always learning yet never able to come to the knowledge of truth (2 Timothy 3:7)”? Then verses 15-16 says, when Paul wrote to Timothy, “and that from CHILDHOOD you have known the Sacred Writings that are able to make you wise, leading to salvation through trusting in Messiah Jesus”... what are these Sacred Writings Paul referred to “from childhood”? The New Testament was canonized in 300 AD. Paul was simply writing to Timothy from a prison before his death...what are these sacred writings he is talking about? There was only the Old Testament at that time... Was that what Paul referred to? Verse 8 says “just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses , so do these people oppose the TRUTH, men corrupted in mind and worthless concerning the faith.” Is Paul confirming that the Sacred Writing was what the Christians call now as the Old Testament as Paul says “just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these people oppose the truth”? What is TRUTH? Jesus says He is the Truth, the Way, and the Life and John says that Jesus is the Word became flesh (John 1:1-14). Psalms 119:142 says “Your Law is TRUTH”. Psalm 119:151 says “All Your commandments are TRUTH.” Psalm 119:160 says “TRUTH is the essence of Your Word”. So wait a minute, does “always learning yet never able to come to the knowledge of TRUTH (v7)” refers to people who oppose the Laws of Moses as written in the Old Testament? Now what about verse 16? It says “All Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for restoration, and for training in righteousness..” If the sacred writings are the Old Testament and all Scripture in that sacred writings is inspired by God for teaching, reproof, restoration and training in righteousness, why are Christians rejecting the Old Testament which is referred to here in 2 Timothy 3:15-16? Verse 5 says, “holding to an outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people.” Christians oppose the Old Testament by refusing to enter the Sabbath command. Christians oppose the Old Testament by eating pork and shrimp that God calls ‘abominable’. Christians oppose the Old Testament by refusing to celebrate God’s own appointed Feasts. Christians oppose the Laws of Moses as they oppose the Old Testament. Jesus observed the Laws of Moses that He Himself made as He was the Lawgiver, Judge and King (Isaiah 33:22). So again, what does this mean, “ always learning yet NEVER able to come to the knowledge of TRUTH”- (2Timothy3:7)?
@janeecejjf20016 ай бұрын
Always learning but never coming to the knowledge of truth is like knowing what scripture says but not recognizing its meaning. The Old Testament is sacred. And at the time the New Testament was written, the Old Testament was the ONLY scripture. Jesus fulfilled the law upon His death and resurrection.

Thank you dear messianic believer, I have been reading the Bible for decades and I had never made the link between the occult and witchcraft practices of the magicians and Moses. Moses followed Yahweh whereas the magicians followed Satan. Not all knowledge is beneficial, not all knowledge leads to salvation - beware of the associates you choose - 1 Corinthians 15.33.

Some of the examples used in the Enduring Work commentaries are bad examples like the example of the FL boy that wanted a divorce. It wasn't due to disobedient, it was due to being abused and passed around and wanting stability. Not sure the euthanasia law passed (as bad as it is) is about anyone just thinking someone else wants to die and then it is ok. Not sure it is like that. But all in all I have found these commentaries have been very helpful to me for the past two and a half years.

If you’ve watched this and think Paul was talking about the children of God that are being described, then your falling for another man passing down traditional teachings. He’s all over the place! Go read the entire chapter……ask yourself who jannes and jambres are and why Paul used them as examples of who he was talking about. If you don’t think evil people have crept into the churches and planted false doctrine then, your not paying close attention.
@janeecejjf20016 ай бұрын
Why would anyone think he’s talking about Christians here? He’s clearly reading verse by verse from the Bible. Jannes and Jambres were Pharaoh’s magicians. Clearly not men of God.

what was Pauls purpose ?
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Жыл бұрын
I would say that the following passages encapsulate Paul's calling and mission. Romans 15:20 And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation... 1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. 2 Corinthians 4:5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. Ephesians 3:8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, Colossians 1:28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle-I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying-a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. Hope that that helps!

He did not say only. You are wrong about that. It was an example, he does not have time to list all issues. You are not wrong about your sentiment. All countries, regions, peoples and governments all around the world are guilty of much indeed. Not only Japanese were in internment, but they were the majority and there has been a great deal of bad in this country and in the West as well as in the East. The Japanese were guilty of terrible war crimes and anti human activities. They had no interest in ending the war. The bombings as horrific as they were, ended the war by humbling the Emperor and the military paragons. Had they not have happened the Japanese very likely would have fought until they did not have any more people to fight. Some decisions have to be made for the good of all people including the Japanese who could have easily eradicated their own damn selves into oblivion. Right after, the US was the foremost in elevating and healing the Japanese. US fed the people and encouraged industry.

If you going to disagree at least state some facts about how is teaching is wrong? everything he preaches are in keeping withe the doctrine of the Bible. Here's a thing to ponder 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
