Ah I think I finally put my finger on the part of Paul David Tripp’s work that bugs me most. “No ability to get yourself out of.” So in his books, all the problem is you and you just need more faith. Or that’s the impression anyway. And if God decreed it all, what’s the point in mediating suffering? Obviously, he actually did go to the doctor and seek to mediate his suffering. But his books never seem to include that part, things like basic conflict resolution or mediating (lessening) personal suffering. Not only is there a logical disconnect, but I feel left hanging by his whole approach to suffering. It’s his fatalistic “there is no way out, just get over yourself” that no only causes a great reaction but seems very unbiblical.

I have stomach problems and I work with a pastor who was in a car wreck and broke his back in several places. He went deaf in one ear and is not physically what he used to be. He encouraged me to pursue every possible medical treatment possible. Yet in suffering God is in control. I am coming out of it slowly. I will leave a link to a his video for you.

Thanks that is nice of you. I’m getting therapy and in a good Biblical church. I think PDT’s perspectives come from his beliefs in Calvinism and I strongly disagree with the way he approaches problems. That’s all.
