I remember back in the eighties and nineties A1A in Fort Lauderdale what's similar to Beach Road in Pattaya. What a fun place too bad they decided to tear it down and clean it up there were a lot of fun places down there

All stories were good the last one was a great cautionary tale. Your follow up comments were spot on. I only every take cash with an emergency amount clipped to my underwear including a business card from the hotel Im staying at . Defitnitly No Jewelery and a cheap watch only. Great stuff Peter.

1st story is sad. I do feel sorry for the girls who sincerely want to find someone to take them out of poverty. Do ask that fellow for the rest of his story. As for that last fellow. I'm glad you included that story I used to drink like that, and around good people it's fun. But in a foreign country, around strangers that can be dangerous. That is why I saved my heavy drinking for when I was back in my room and never when I was with a girl.

The best point in this stories episode was in #2 about giving to large NGOs and charities versus supporting your GF kids. What a wonderful perspective !

The difference is that an NGO will take just a few bucks per month but many bar girls can take your life savings in 6 months if the guys are not smart enough.

Your first story about not being a white knight. My message to that ar..eh..e, is to be just a human being. it does not cost anything to be a decent human being, does it?

Thanks Pete and enjoyed all of these stories 🙂 Regarding lost money or valuables, I only ever carry with me the money I would expect to spend in one night plus a buffer of another thousand baht and a travel card. I disperse that between my girl (the one with me at the time) and myself, this sort of empowers her, shows trust, allows her to check bills and to barter as the girl is mostly paying (for food, drinks and transport etc) with my funds. This has always worked for me and I have never been robbed. If the girl takes off with the couple of thousand baht I have shared with her then there is no great loss and she would of actually done herself a bigger disfavour. This strategy has always worked for me and again I have never been robbed or stolen from.

About the first story, I wonder how things went further for this guy and Nok but you are right, I always treat them respectful when I spend time with them, even when they try squeeze the life... I mean the money out of you. And of course best thing to do (which works best for me) tell your intentions beforehand if you just want a funtime

Last story: lesson is don't get drunk. 2 or 3 drinks and 1 lady drink then home. It is so easy to make a fool out of yourself (drunk) then the vultures swoop and you are their meat. I'm not a cheap Charlie but I believe level headed. Lady boys some are good, some are fair but others are, well you put your own word here.

Great stories as usual Peter. A question I've never heard the answer to. What happens if you have moved there, have a place and speak a little thai. Isn't it better to tell them that so they know you're not there temporarily and they'd possibly treat you differently? Of course, I wouldn't tell them where I lived nor take them back to my condo, etc. I was thinking maybe the best is to tell them I'm married to a thai lady and only take them to a short time hotel and don't fall in love with them. Also, what's the possibility of being an older gent and having one or two giks (sp?) on the side.

Hey Peter - trust you've had a great time with your daughters' visit. About the 3rd story, I was once pick-pocketed by 2 LBs. Some, maybe many or most, can be quite crafty at this. I was walking down one of the Soi's between 2nd Road & Beach Road and I could see 2 LBs approaching me with one showing her arms reaching out as if wanting to hug me. Well, I was the perfect prey - I used my 2 hands to keep her from giving me a hug. This allowed the other to reach into my cargo pants pocket and grab a small Sony camera. I did not realize this since the especially friendly LB was very expressive and kept my attention while my 2 hands were busy holding her 2 arms from hugging me. Very crafty indeed - teamwork at this game. Just glad my wallet wasn't stolen. Now, I keep my hands in my pocket to protect my valuables carried.

I cant understand people have all cards and money with them out on a night in Thailand. And why have so much money on the account. I can transfer money to one account that are not connected to a card, so when I like to go to ATM I just transfer money to the card in a second. And many people also travel with only one card. For me this is so insane. :) Keep Safe everybody. Thanks for another great video. 🙏

Morning Pete. Just started my Sunday by listening to these stories and as usual enjoyed them. I too cannot understand why some guys take out all their money and often end up loosing the lot. Perhaps it’s spotted by too many girls/ladyboys and then you are a target!! Thanks for uploading these. Cheers 🍻

Yes don't have all of your cards and money with you. If you have thai bank account, phone is enough as you can pay by scanning the QR code. I usually have around 500b in my wallet but make all the purchaces by scanning. Also don't drink hard alcohol, but beer instead. Those ladyboys are pretty skilled thieves. They snatched my wallet once and I have no idea how they did it. Luckily there was only couple of hundred bath and my thai debit card.

Story 1: I had a similar experience. Met a girl on an app with Cupid in the name. I settled on the woman who was most aggressive in wanting to meet. She worked in healthcare and had a Uni degree so she seemed like a good bet. Upon meeting there wasn’t much spark and she seemed sullen. The goodbye at the airport felt distant. Overseas dating is not so easy. Next time I won’t capitulate to the most aggressive woman on the app. Learning process.

I was lucky...many years ago I was walking in Bangkok near Pat Pong and a ladyboy came to me and I noticed immediately that this person wanted to get into my pocket. (s)he didn't succeed. You know who succeeded to take my money? Once at a world life concert in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, a gang of most elderly people managed to pickpocket me twice in one night. I had some money in a trouser with zipped bags, but still they managed what that ladyboy couldn't do. Probably experience! I found out with the third one as I was paying attention and saw how they were operating. Very clever. But I also do as you suggested: I alway carry money that I'm willing to spend that night.

Unending scam stories from Thailand. It's unbelievable how much these people have to lie to pull off their sob stories in order to extort money from strangers. It certainly sounds like it seems normal and acceptable to be con artists. No embarassment, no conscience whatsover. I wonder if it's part of their culture. Yet farangs still come in droves in the hope of securing a bride amongst them.

It is a real problem painting all type people with the same brush! Just like any other country in the world, Thailand has its fair share of scammers however, Normal Thais are honest decent, hard-working individuals. In my experience, it’s people who work in the entertainment industry aimed at foreigners that are the worst culprits, along with many taxi drivers and Tuk Tuk operators who target foreigners. But again, not all. In my experience, most of the Thai people I have met have been honest.
