I was in Phuket when some russian guys refused to pay the bill in a resturant, they bragged about that they belonged to the russian mafia. What happened was that someone made a phonecall and a bus with a bunch of thaiboxers came out and litterarely kickced the shit out of them. All of them ended up in the hospital.

I lived in Thailand for a while and avoided any bad situations by following one rule: don't start no sh*t, won't be no sh*t. In fact, Thailand is one of the safest countries in the world due to the fact that Thais are super friendly and won't harm you for no reason.

There use to be a program called Australian Embassy in Bangkok. They had on there Australians who did stupid stuff like pissing off a night club balcony and then getting bashed. But the funny thing is they didn't know what they did wrong. Behave yourself especially in someone else's country and don't act a fool.

I enjoyed lots of good trouble-free visits to Thailand over the years until the one time I decided to take a friend with me. He hadn't been there before and, to put it mildly, he behaved like a bull in a china shop. On our first or second day in Bangkok we popped into a cafe in the Patpong area. Anyway, after we'd eaten, I had something to do and left him at the cafe and arranged to meet up with him later at one of the bars. So far so good. Later that night I ran into him and he was in a real state because a bunch of angry Thais were after him. Apparently, he'd taken a shine to one of the waitresses in the cafe, refused to pay the bar fine, and had left with the girl. The only thing I could think of was to get him to the Grand Prix on Patpong 1. I was a regular there, and the Mama San told us we'd be safe as long as we stayed in the bar. It turned out he'd also had trouble in one of the upstairs ping pong bars, so goodness knows how many people he'd upset on his rampage. Anyway, thanks to the staff at the Grand Prix, I eventually managed to get him back to the hotel without incident. The next day, we left for Pattaya, but that's another story. All I'll say is he ended up getting married.

Great channel Thailand bound i have watched a load of your videos the last couple weeks! I was living just of soi 22 cmk home apartments for about a year walking home after a few from the bars down the road near holiday inn, a couple of policeman pulled over stop and searched me followed by attempting to plant drugs on me . My saving grace was an Thai couple i have spoken to on occasions that were sitting on there balcony on the first floor started screaming at the police and thank god had recorded the whole thing!!!!!!

Rule #1...........never ever get involved with ANYTHING in Thailand. It's nothing but a show. DON'T be a hero if you see something break out, especially in Pattaya. I was sitting on the steps on Soi 12 when an Farang guy was being chased by a Freelancer and she was flinging beer from a large Chaing bottle screaming at him. He turned and slammed her into a building. My guess was he was a "skippy" by not paying. Three motorcycle taxi guys jumped off their bikes and beat the living shit out of him. This happened 6 feet from me. One guy picked up the bottle and crashed it over his head. I was showered with large chards of glass. I just sat there and enjoyed the show. The guy fell on the ground and I thought he was dead as he had a gash on his head. They turned, noticed I had glass on me and after a rage of fury turned and ran to me picked glass off me and asked if I was OK. "You ok Mr......you ok Mr?" I told them to run. They took off and I got up and left. I was approached on Soi 6 asking if I wanted Marijuana. I told him to get the fuck away and ran away into a 7/11. He's right, don't mess with ANY Thai person. Just smile and walk away unless you want to be jumped by every Thai within a two block radius. They don't fight fair. You are in THEIR country..Thai people don't like confrontation but they are passive aggressive and will ALWAYS take care of their own........ALWAYS. This includes the cops as Farang will never be right. That said, I never felt more safe at 3am in Pattaya. People are cool so long as you are cool and respectful of them. Expect to be approached by Ladyboys who might be aggressive pulling on you and the such. Just Smile and laugh as you pull away. Play along if they grab your jock and don't get pissy. Remember, they are guys with high heels that will stomp it through your skull. Don't play the tourists roll by taking pictures and video taping people. If you do see something break out and a Thai person is involved, you are causing that person to lose face. Just don't do it especially to Thai working girls. To be respectful, just always be mellow, talk sofly and slow always, and just enjoy the show. Think CHILL all the time. You will be treated very well if you just know the basic of Thai and use it. Simple things like hello, thank you, excuse me and how to count will go miles. They will think you have a Thai wife and most likely you will get Thai rates. If you don't want to be bothered by the working girls as you walk by, say hello in Thai. They will think you have been there many times and know the game. When bartering, accept their first offer after you ask for discount of 1/4 the price. Pushing it causes them to lose face. Remember, it's part of the game but just know you have more than they do. Wear cologne and something sweet citrus smelling. Thai people somehow have very sensitive noses and think all foreigners smell. I was complimented by Thai girls many times when I wore the brand name Legend Spirit. Get a small pocket sample and wear it. Smile, have fun but remember, you are a visitor.....wear a shirt and respect their culture of CHILL. Chok dee khap.......which means good luck and can be used to say good bye and a "cheers" when giving a drink.

Thank you for your very informative information and your experiences in Thailand. You are spot on about the bar girls and their "bag of angles" that have for the naive male tourists. I remember all to well my first trip to Bkk. It was 1972, I graduated high school and was kept a promise of my older brother (KIA Vietnam in Tet of 68) made me promise when I graduated HS, I would go to Thailand and "experience" life. My older brother and I were like Wally and Beaver back then (me Beaver) and I know nothing about what I was going to experience. I had worked and saved money from 1968 cutting lawns, paper routes, washing cars, taking out trash for the older people in the neighbor in Hawaii where we lived. So I saved enough money, planned a two week vacation in the "Land of Smiles"...........well it did not go as planed to say the least. I did not leave for three months!!!!!!! I have to say this was one of the best summers I had at that time. I met this Thai lady about 32, and she rocked my world! She helped me get a part time job so I could cover rent in a dive (not really a dive) but was great for me. She stayed with me or I stayed with her almost every night for three months. I have been going back to Thailand ever since. But your shared stories have a tremendous amount of merit in them, the listening audience should heed your advice predicated on your years of experience. I have had a lot of fun in Bkk, Phucket, Pattaya, and Koh Samui. Lots of fun. Take care brother, keep the young ones straight. Respectfully, James

I'm living vicariously through you. I wish i'd known you in the days when i was a frequent visitor because as i sit here watching these videos of yours i think "I'd love to spend an evening with this guy". One night i was (the oldest guy) on Khao Sahn Road. Sometimes i would stay there just because it was cheap and i loved the vibe, sometimes i'd stay at a 5 star hotel. Anyway, I was on KSR. As i sat at a streetside bar i noticed a group of 3 young guys, Aussies i think, shirtless and making a loud spectacle of themselves. Grinding up next to both tourist young ladies and Thai ladies. After i finished my drink, i later walked up the road and saw a cluster of people and some commotion. Looking on, I saw one of the guys speaking to the police holding a bloody rag to his face. As he dabbed at his face, i observed that his face had been SLICED wide open so bad that the knife had passed through his cheek so deep that i could see his teeth through the slice! As you said, I never had a problem, but the lesson was learned. It's perfectly acceptable to have a good time in Bangkok, but for gawds sake don't be a dick! I also experienced Thai's looking out for me in a quite unexpected way..... ....Once i was on Phuket and was out on a bit of a date with a ladyboy. I'd taken her to a great rock venue called Rock City at the end of Bangla Road. At the time, they would not allow single ladyboys in, but I was a regular there, and they always were very nice about letting me in with a ladyboy. My ladyboy and I were sitting watching the band, minding our own business, when another young, very drunk, and very tough-looking young Aussie lad approached our table and standing within a few few feet from me began simply glaring at us. My ladyboy was frightened, and held my arm tightly. It was a very tense moment, and the guy started in with "You American faggot", "You fucking American Cunt", etc. Though i was with a ladyboy, I am no shrinking violet and can hold my own. I stood up and got face to face with the guy, and at that very moment, quite unexpectedly, two very tough looking Thai bouncers swooped in on the scene and literally grabbed the guy by both arms and in no uncertain terms force-marched him out the door. I had no idea they'd been watching. They returned to my table for a few moments after and made sure we were good. I shook hands with them, tipped them each 200 baht, and continued on with my night. It felt really good knowing those guys had my back. By the way, if you, dear reader, are ever on Phuket, and if you love AD/DC music, the house band is an AC/DC cover band with an Australian singer named Dax, and the guy who plays guitar is a Thai version of Angus Young, complete with schoolboy outfit. They've been playing there forever. Dax came up after one of their sets and had a drink with us, complimented me on the beauty of my companion......and all was right with the world.

I do like your commentary on Thailand and it does apply to a lot of tourists that visit the place, most my time is spent in Patong, and of been to many places all over Thailand, hopefully February 2021 I’ll be moving over there and I will be living in Pattaya, The only reason I go to Patea is because I have friends from Australia Germany England America and that gives me opportunities to start up new businesses in that area, I have been going there for over a years now and I see all the mistakes that people make when there, yes you can party but you have to have respect, About four years ago I got caught with cocaine going through a text stop and the only reason I got off was because I have a Thai girlfriend, also the police officer had met me many times so I did get away with it, saying that if you do try run the gauntlet and buy drugs off the street you will be paying a big fine or going to jail I was just very lucky, though that I found that the bikie gangs are very ruthless and they will try bring you win and use you to move ice, when in Thailand do you live by Thailand rules, respect will go along way with anyone that you deal with that is a Thai national, Thailand is a place to meet new people enjoy yourself and you have to keep yourself safe. This gentleman that has put up many posts about Thailand does give you a good idea how everything works around there so I’d say keep following his posts and take that advice because I could tell you a lot more awful stories, I suppose I know how to make money and who to make money with just be careful of the mafia and the bikie’s now they will use you to make them money regards Travisty

When I was in Thailand I heard a lot of stories about random Thais jumping out from everywhere to gang up on the foreign tourist to have a free-for-all. I never experienced any hostility, but I never started anything either. I rarely drink alcohol, but I was offered a lot of alcohol (which I did not accept) and to join them eating (which sometimes I would accept) by people drinking and eating in front of their homes when I walked by. I stayed in a residential area in my buddy's house. Everyone was super friendly. One or twice someone did something like step on my foot in a subway because they were careless, and I may have shot them a dirty look and told them to watch where they were walking, but no one physically attacked me or got loud back. I had heard from several people about being passed fake money. This happens throughout east Asia, not just Thailand. To avoid this, I went to the bank and asked for very small notes. I was never traded a bad note, but I often paid for meals and such with a small pile of small notes with my buddy standing nearby shaking his head. haha

I too have been asked to join people for a drink and food as they ate outside. I can get a good vibe from people and knew they were genuine. Never a problem. I sat for 2 hours one night as a guy played guitar with his buddies and his sister was pretty. I returned 3 days later with a bottle of Johnny Walker and returned the favor. The sister went off to get some shrimp then cooked. I knew just a little Thai and they didn't believe I didn't have a Thai wife. The spoke little engish but we just enjoyed hanging out. They are as curious about us as we are of them. It's known as a "status" thing to say you had drinks with a white Farang or know one especially in small villages. In smaller villages it's as though they had drinks with a movie star as they think we are all rich and famous. It's a story for their friends. I look forward to visiting them again as I consider them friends. Most of all I want to see Da again. She was a delightful and pretty lady without any kids. At one point I think they were trying to set me up with her..........but I just joked it off and smiled but did kiss her on the back of the hand that got a good laugh from everyone.

So you want to hear a story? Here's the best one yet but you may have to do some research if you want to verify it, but I believe it was reported in the Pattaya Mail years ago, 1990's. A English police officer who retired to Thailand with a disability pension married a bar girl from Pattaya who took him to a remote shack in Isaan and poisoned him nearly to the point of death. All the while she was receiving and spending his pension. An American who had become a Buddhist monk was traveling in the area and was told by the locals about the English fellow. The monk found him in the shack and with help from the villagers and using a buffalo cart took him to a hospital. The poor guy had open wounds filled with maggots, he was literally hours away from death. His wife was arrested but without sufficient evidence never faced any charges. To add insult to injury she stole his watch from the hospital bedside table. When asked why she didn't take him to a hospital her answer was simply, "Everybody has to die sometime". It took the poor fellow well over a year to fully recover.

Hi from New Zealand. I lived in Thailand for a few years. The only time I had a running with the police was one day when I was going to the old world trade building by the overpass. I was stoked by 2 police and they said I had dropped some rubbish. I told them in Thai that I hadn't. I had put some paper in a rubbish bin underneath the stairs. I took them down and showed it to them A lot of talk and finally I got sick of it and showed them my embassy credentials. If I didn't have that it would have cost me at least 10000 bath. Don't drop rubbish even when you see Thailand do it.

Here’s a good tip. Never ring the bar bell if you can’t or don’t intend paying the bill. Saw it once early hrs in Hua Hin with a couple of drunken Scousers. They started to get aggressive and hell broke loose. Masses of crazed screaming women appeared from no where. The guys were eventually locked into the bar and police took them away.

Thais are the best people to be around 90% of the time. Just make sure you don't slip into the 10% zone. There's very little warning and can be hard to spot. One minute everything is calm then there's people trying to kill each other. They usually come in packs and this is not just with foreigners, even amongst themselves. It's similar to the way the soi dogs behave, they're happy sniffing around one minute and then they're trying to rip each others throats out. The most concerning part is they inflict often fatal injuries to each other while showing no restraint or remorse.

The stories are totally different for what I've been hearing. I believe every last one of them. It makes a nice change. From someone walking through Thailand with a cam talking. Because I think when you are sat down in your own living room you can really reflect on what's been happening and what was going on in town at that time and you can give a more in-depth story or what's happening. Thailand can be very distracting. So you tend to talk about women bars drinks and prices no real stories. It reminds me of The Old Jackanory tv programme when i was a lad. But more for adults for adults. But these are based on fact and true events. And as for the guy with the cocaine I can guarantee he wss set up by the police to obtain money You can get years in Thailand jail which is not fun for very little bit of drugs and a stupid decision it's good you are bringing this to people's attention. Once again nice work.

I was sitting at a bar in the roadside seats with a couple of friends in Pattaya about 4 years ago and had one of them fake watch sellers come past. I was quite drunk and paid him 1000 baht to go fetch me a gram of weed. Which is stupid for quite a few reasons. He agreed and went to get it. Some time had passed and I figured that he'd just taken the money and moved on to try to sell his wares elsewhere. I waited some more, and then some more again, just in case. Just before I was about to leave, he showed up. He'd been gone for a bit over an hour or so. He said that he had to ride a long way to get it and wanted more cash so I threw him 200 (1000 was already way too much) and he gave me the bud and disappeared quickly. I saw him the next day and he was rolling around drunk on his motorbike. Guess he used the absurd amount of money I gave him to buy some sangsom. I didn't end up smoking that stuff until the last day in Pattaya, not too long before getting a white van back to Bangkok. I sealed it in a bad and hid it in my hotel room. On my last day there, I emptied a cigarette and mixed it with the tobacco, then refilled and packed it back in with a pen. It was the middle of the day and I smoked it on the balcony, super paranoid about security downstairs seeing me, or a guest on an adjoining balcony being able to smell it, as I had Thais staying in both rooms next door. After I finished it, I flushed the rest down the toilet. Most expensive gram that I'd ever had, and it absolutely smashed me as I hadn't smoked for a while and it was good weed as well. I found it hard to be in public as it was super obvious that I was off my head. My eyes were very bloodshot and I couldn't even speak properly lol. I'd never bought drugs before or after that in Thailand. This was before I knew about the piss tests and the fact that anyone with you is automatically guilty if you're caught. Stupid drunk move.

@@ThailandBound Indeed. Dude could have just gone down the road to a cop/impersonator and agreed to extort me at the very least. I've spent quite some time in Thailand since, and have found that many stories on YT are exaggerated, namely due to being based on nightlife activities almost exclusively. Yet they are the most interesting ones, of course. I've been renting a house for about 4 years on the outskirts of BKK, and have never ran into any kind of trouble asides from covid-related paranoia, since there are next to no other foreigners around here. Regarding the drugs one. I have often been offered drugs while walking along the beach road in Pattaya and most times was nearly opposite the police station. One evening after been offered drugs I decided to sit down a little bit up the street and see what that guy will eventually do. I suspected he was working undercover, especially since he was so close to the police station. Well, I was right. After about 20-30 minutes he walked straight across the road and into the police station. I have never touched drugs in my life but I was just left thinking how easy someone could get caught and go from walking on a beach to sitting in a cell.

Self inflicted? Maybe, certainly in your story but in general? The problem is that you get ripped off at every opportunity in the bars and when things go south you are just supposed to smile and pay up. Even when you trust a bar or hotel there tends to be that one person who will take advantage. There is a tendency for girls to mistake being drunk with being unaware. Lost track of the amount of times I've been overcharged, especially if your already spending a lot.Best case scenario is you stay calm and polite and providing no one is losing face the bill will be adjusted. The second level of Pat Pong being a particularly problematic zone.

Hi new subscriber to the channel absolutely love what you’re doing I must admit I am I follow you a guy who’s got his own channel land of smiles and you guys seem to all be saying the same thing look out for the scams don’t fall in love with a bar girl et cetera et cetera are all really good advice. With regard to relationships or people that Marry Thais . I think that ass in the west where run program to think of meeting someone to fall in love that kind of thing it seems to be certainly in Thailand that you’re actually entering more into a business partnership if that’s the right word and that’s certainly what comes across when you’re talking about guys we didn’t meet Thai women they bring him over to the UK they can’t speak English what they’re more or less doing is entering into a business relationship more than an old-fashioned falling in love story and there’s nothing wrong with that As long as both parties understand what it is. I’m 44 and planning my first Thailand trip watched your videos like I say very informative very happy what you Gotta say there is one thing that you don’t touch too much on I’m looking at booking hotels on the website that you mention the problem or concern that I have is how far away do you want to be from the main bits of Thailand because people say well it doesn’t matter how far you are away as long as you’re near a BTS or taxes are so cheap that it doesn’t matter how far away you are. Also because I’m only 44 I’m quite an active person I do actually want to do a little bit more with my Thailand trip to just sit in bars and get drunk because I’m planning about four weeks so do you have any ideas some of the other places I can go other than the places you mentioned something sort of like a bit more rural the real Thailand if you like. an ideal world I probably wanna be no more than a mile to 2 miles what are your thoughts on it is it a case of the public transport system is so good and so cheap but it don’t matter if you’re maybe 5 miles away I do like the idea of being able to go somewhere quiet where I can sleep and I’m not listening to live bands till 3 am so like I say when I’m out partying yeah I’m gonna be partying but when I come home or back to the hotel I want peace and quiet. Also a lot of people don’t have KZbin channels and talk about Thailand always seem to say the same thing only book 3 days hotel or accommodation because after three days of exploring Bangkok you might find a better cheaper or a paste it’s more nearer to where you want to be so everyone saying don’t book the whole holiday in just the same hotel you can go into bars like you say go-go bars or whatever negotiate or you might someone might say to you I know someone who’s got a really nice apartment it’s not been advertised on the website but might be advertised locally at a much cheaper rate and a better place. So one more thing I actually do you wanna buy some stuff from the markets I’m not too bothered about fake markets my friends have bought some bags do you wanna buy a few things you talk a lot about saving face you talk a lot about not upsetting type people being respectful but every single channel do I look at they say that you should haggle aggressively I mean my idea of haggling aggressively might be totally different to someone else’s idea of haggling a Gressly it be nice we can do a video on that you know how do you haggle for things how do you do that politely are not upset any local people also sorry just one more thing I’ve heard some horror stories about hotels basically if you meet a girl when you wanna bring her back a lot of the hotel security won’t allow you to do it or they might say no and I mean I’m not fussed because I’m gonna gonna be there for four weeks but she must be a bit embarrassing for the girl because they all know what what are you going to get up to him and that’s more than likely going to happen you know I’m a bloke at the end of the day if I see a pretty girl and I like her I might buy find her and I might bring her back to my hotel but a lot of the people that have their own channels like yourself a sign you should rather than book a hotel booked an apartment because a lot of the hotels won’t let you bring back a lady of the night if that makes sense is that the case or is it or is it not. I know you’re busy me know what you think. My name is not fun ciao Flash that’s just a nickname I have my actual name is John Paul and I don’t mind you using it

If you have a hot head, loud mouth, and like to start trouble for no big reason, then yes. Stay in western countries. But if you are respectful, obey the law and local customs, agree on the price beforehand, don't do drugs, and are generally a friendly person, you will have zero problems in Thailand. In fact, I could even argue that you will be safer there than you would in most places in the US. But if you try to screw people over, steal, or otherwise be a nuisance, you will quickly find that in Asia, they have less tolerance for that sort of behavior than in the west.

Upon leaving, we were followed by a group of four Frenchmen who upon us try to get a cab home, stopped the cab and accused my date of stealing his gold chain off him. I dragged her back and jumped out of the cab to fend him off....he then insisted that I hand her over to him (mind you this is all happening right ion front of the Police box on Sukumvit Road & Soi 4)....I told him to leave, but he would not, this then escalated to a punch up of which he flung himself back onto a passing car thus pretended he was hit and somehow ripped his forearm open about 12 inches with a deep gash and bleeding heavily. When the Police came, I was dragged down to Lumpini Police Station and stayed there overnight. In the morning, I was forced to re-enact what happened, and this charade went on for the whole day. To the Police credit, they saw through his story as he was swearing and threatening me in the Station that he was going to get someone to kill me (as he knew gangsters in BKK). In the end, I paid a fine of 1200 Bhatt and was let go. He, the French guy was flying home the next day as I told police I was willing to stay in Thailand to go to court and prove my innocence. I think the French Farang was trying get me to pay for his flight home...it was a scam and a set up. The Police did a great job, but the moral to the story is....Keep your cool. Be firm, but calm, especially when dealing with the Police. P.S. .....I lost the girl, she felt I was a bad man, after all that.

I am on oxy for pain management. I know I need a special permit. I only carry around a days worth of meds in a container but not the original containers as it’s too bulky and I run the risk of loosing them. Will I get into trouble for that? If I want to stay longer can I get those meds from a dr in Thailand?

Don't know all the rules about meds in Thailand but can tell you that you can get everything in Thailand, not a 3rd world country.

its not only the destination you need to consider but also any transit destinations assuming not a direct flight , some arab countries have harsh laws on any drug and even poppy seed bagels have got people in trouble

Bring your prescription with your name and medication on it as standard when travelling. Some meds are illegal in some countries. With regards to getting a new prescription, It depends. But you can pay to see a doctor, and certain drugs may be available over the counter.

At the very least you must get a letter from your local doctor to take with you to travel with medication. Oxy will be very hard to get in Thailand legally via a doctor. If you are prescribe it in your home country then I can't see why you can't take what you need for the duration of your trip. Do your research so you don't end up in a Thai jail for taking a drug into their country .Take care

I can be all night long listening to your stories. Maybe you can make a video about all the anecdotes that you've experienced. It would be so interesting......Furthermore I have been to Thailand about more than 15 times and nothing has ever happened to me. You have to be respectful and sensible about the culture and its people. Don't go there looking for trouble ; otherwise trouble will find you... Don't be a dickhead whilst in Thailand. Cheers Peter and keep up with the videos coming in.
