Hi Matt, what if you use the same or nearest sounding drivers as to the LS35/a, then wouldn't you be closer to the real sounding LS35/a? Or do you use your different drivers and tweak the crossover to sound like the LS35/a? Just fascinated on how speakers are designed and built.

Cheers mate. I listened to your message to. Will reply tomorrow. I have a hunch that QTX brought patterns for a lot of older driver designs. That's probably why they look familiar. I've had great results from these tweeter in the past. I'm hoping they will work well in this design. I'll be recessing them into the front baffle I think.

Speakers, 3/5A, yeah, blah blah blah, but the t-shirt! Amiga! Now you are talking.😂 Interesting as always, looking forward to the build.

If you don't put the woofer behind the front but on the front and put the tweeter on the back instead of on the frontside of the front, isn't that better? Because then the center of the woofer and the tweeter is then more in line with each other, right? Or am I seeing that wrong? Of course also possible.

One of the reasons the LS3/5a was such a great speaker was because of the rear baffle mounted mid bass driver. By doing that you remove all the defraction issues you get from the front of the speaker chassis. Having the tweeter mounted on the front of the baffle with the woofer behind can cause some time alignment issues but that can easily be corrected in the crossover or by listening slightly below tweeter axis. I will likely recess the tweeter into the baffle anyway. Acoustic centres will be pretty much aligned that way but it's not really a problem.

Every single detail on the orginal LS3\5a matters. This is more far out than it looks because of the relatively tiny details.

Hi what is the original loudspeakers brand?
@haycrossaudio54742 жыл бұрын
The cabinets were Teleton SB1202. Only the top, bottom and sides are original. Really I should have just made new but had these.
