Thank you so much for this remedy! Also, I found that the first method actually worked for me. The shutdown on the printer doesn't happen automatically after the computer completes its update. The power button on the printer started to flicker a bunch of times and I just let it sit for like 5 minutes and it then shutdown on its own. When I turned the printer back on it started up! I figured out myself how to solve this, but starting here. The printer I have is a EPSON L475, the pattern to reach Update Mode was different. There is 3 patterns in total for different models. For me was Cancel+Left+Home+Power. I succeded at installing Firmware but nothing changed. After a lot of experimenting I tried something specific. I picked up an old machine with Windows 7, then I ran the Adjust Program for my printer with compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3 and finally I applied a "Initial Config". After all of that the printer is usable again 😁👍

EPSON WorkForce Pro WF-C5790 key combination: 4 + 7 + Job/Status(i) + Power button. Then run the update from a PC. After the update is done, the printer will light up like a Cristmas tree (all lights blinking). Thank you very much for your video.

This also worked for my ET-4750! You do have to wait 5-10 minutes for it to automatically shut down after the firmware update, it won't change immediately.

Let me start by thanking Kevin, if it wasn't for him, I'd probably just buy another printer. I have an Epson WF 2660 and I ran through "method two", three times before it worked. This is the second time I've had to fix my firmware update for Epson. Just like Kevin said in another video regarding Epson firmware updates, DO NOT UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE, nothing good can come out of it. I've learn my lesson for good now, no more updates. In fact, I will not install any of their software, I'll let Windows manager my printer instead, or try the chipless printing method (Kevin has another video on that, kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6qqhGp4o6-isNE. Thank you again for all you do, Kevin!

Hello, I have a Epson Artisan 835. The unit will power on and start the startup sequence, however stops about 15 seconds into the start up and shuts down. The menu, display/crop, back button and home button flashes. I’m not sure what that means and was hoping you can help. Epson tech support was useless. Thank you.

Hey, Kevin what should be the problem if the recovery firmware doesn't recognize the machine connected to USB? My Epson ET 4750 is in printer inspection mode and the recovery firmware doesn't recognize it as connected. When I connect an another working ET 4750 via the same USB, the recovery firmware recognizes it and it appears as available for downgrade.

Fix for Epson ET4750 Power off. Hold down following buttons, Power, Home & place finger on top right of screen Power on. Hold until power light turns on. Release all buttons Screen should say ready for update. Connect USB A-B cable. Run Firmware update. Wait for 15 minutes. Printer might turn off or you will power down manually. Wait a few minutes. Turn printer on and undertake test print.

Hi, I have an Epson xp 340, I got a recovery mode screen after a failure to update a firmware (accidentally the printer's power cord was pulled out while I was doing the update) after checking videos how to fix it, I got to the update mode screen and I could download the new firmware (Epson support webpage) Everything went ok, the printer screen showed that the download was complete, but went I turned off the printer and back on, the power button light is lit now, but the screen went black and nothing happens, what could be wrong now?

Did you see the firmware update is completed on the printer? It usually takes 5 to 15 minutes. Don’t shut down the printer before it is done.

yes hello... there is no way to get my printer out of the recovery mode..i dont know how it got into recovery mode.. it was fine and working the only thing it would not do is scan anythiong but it did recieve the pictures from the scan disk thing when i put it in..ive plugged it and unplugged it. left it off for 15 minutes and iut does nohng still

@@trentmitche11 Hold power and home button down and for me brings up a menu with choices - #4 is "NORMAL MODE" gets me back to normal menu. BUT - seems every time I power off I have to do this. Also - despite unit showing on my network EPSON software refuses to see it. It is on network - can even access it via Chrome . .. Good Luck - hope you can fully solve it.

This was one last ditch effort to save my Epson WF-4640 from the dreaded Error Code 0x8a. If you research on the net you'll get it's a Windows 10 error, a piece of paper stuck somewhere in the path, corrupted firmware,, or who knows what. Well...I was using a Mac first off. I combed the innards with a fine tooth and no stuck paper, so that left corrupted firmware so I thought. I then download the up to date one and install with USB to which it says "Firmware Has Been Downgraded" and there was no way continue to upload the latest FW. That led me here and I used the method with the 4-buttons in the turning on process which then enabled me to load the latest FW successfully. I thought WOOHOO I'll bet this fixed the Epson. OF COURSE NOT...REMEMBER IT SAYS EPSON ON THE FRONT. EPSON PRINTERS HAVE LET ME DOWN FOR THE LAST TIME. MY WF-4640 IS AT THE ROAD AND TOMORROW IS TRASH DAY! GOT A NEW HP COLOR LASER. EPSON = POS.

Now the screen only says "Printer Mode" and will not connect. When I start back up using the method described, the screen says "Program Update" and will not budge. I did the firmware upgrade and the printer automatically turned off like the instruction said for XP-446. I waited after it powered off and nothing. I tried powering it on, but only the power button light comes on, not the little screen that controls everything. The screen remains blacked out. Prior to upgrade from Epson website, it was working aka letting me know it's stuck in recovery mode. Please advise.

Dear Sir, My WF7610 don't turn on. Plugging the power cord and pressing the power button, nothing happen, just a short lighting of the blue led and a little (little little) scratch from buzzer and no mechanical movements. The screen is completely black. Following your procedure (power + home + 1 + reset) I restored the firmware, and it was correctly entered. Anyway, no reaction after the powering on... Sometimes blue led blinks for 5 seconds, mostly for one only. Lcd always blank. Any hint? Thanks in advance.
