I have tried all the printer hacks I found on KZbin. This is the only one that actually worked. I even called Epson. Their solution was to install only Epson ink. I believe this update allowed the printer to use only Epson ink. Thank you Charlie Cabreros

Didn't work for me. Still get the error although all went through as with you. This is a U.S. model using the 212 ink cartridges. Since I am in Germany, I have a hard time getting this cartridge and am trying to use the EU ink 603 cartridge. Any ideas, maybe a different firmware update? Tks.

I have spent a great amount of time trying to find the folder that will clear the ROM. I have the printer in the mode, and I have it connected with USB to my computer. BUT, I have searched in every direction for the folder you use with no success. I have copied the file name (EPFWUPD.exe) and done a search, but it does not appear to be on my computer. I do have a firmware installer, but it will only let me check for new updates and choose to install them or not. Very frustrated, and really need some assistance on this. The folks at Epson were of no assistance -- just said to buy their ink :(

I am trying to download the EPFWUPD.exe file, but I get popup stating Could not find files needed to start. I need help restoring my Epson back to factory settings and do not want to by their damn expensive ink. Can you please help me? I am stuck on what to do.

Sorry to hear that, but did you try to redownload it? Try disable antivirus or search online for old firmware then follow the same steps mentioned, let me know if still not working.

Very strange for me... I followed all the exact same instructions. Step by step, every button, each screen was the same, same model. However ink still showed as not compatible. Is this a 3rd party chipless firmware update by chance?

Did you download the link I mentioned on the description? Try to download other firmware version online.
