I previously played this tune on fiddle, but I was unable to lead singing playing fiddle. I went back to finger style guitar. Method 2 is closer to what I recall. I have to get accoustomed to a pick, again. Thanks

Okay, if I'm following correctly from the video and the article, in Example 1 the 2nd and 4th time through the third row (CFCG) you are substituting the last two measures of the second row for the last two measures of the third row.

@JamesMcHie Hey so I’m not sure if this is part of your confusion but it turns out there was an error in the printed AG at the end of Ex 1. If that is causing your issue, check out the digital version and it should be corrected. That’ll be online soon for free but if you have an AG online subscription you can access it there too. If that’s not your issue, then scroll too 8:30 in the video. 1st measure is ex 1, 2nd measure is ex 2, 3rd measure back to ex 1, 4th measure ex 2, etc. Over time you won’t need to be this prescriptive when mixing up rhythms but initially it can help to use a strict structure as a framework.
