A tip for someone boondocking with a shower. Keep a dish pan on the floor to catch excess shower water and use it to flush your toilet.
@bethsuter46375 ай бұрын
Another tip: eat from a Tupperware bowl and just put it back in the refrigerator with your next meal inside it, so you don’t have to wash the dish at all.

This is a very informative video. Thank you for all of the information. The only thing I do different because I'm a nomad with no tanks I carry my own water. I usually only have about 10 to 12 gallons with me so I have learned to use vodka in a spray bottle. Works great and because I don't drink it it lasts me a long time and there's no smell and it works really well specially on stainless steel. I can't stand the smell of vinegar so I opted for vodka and it works really well in a spray bottle
@wanderlustwheels48705 ай бұрын
In addition to your techniques, when we're boondocking we keep a small plastic bowl in the bathroom sink. When we wash our hands we capture the handwashing water in this bowl. Then dump it in the toilat to flush.

My husband is a kidney transplant patient. He has zero immune system. Before he eats any fruit or vege, I microwave them for 20 seconds to kill any germs. The time is not long enough to get food soggy, just kill the grems. Bagged salad, just open to vent & microwave. Strawberries, blackberries, apples. Every friut or vege that we eat raw must be microwaved. This helps save water, too. Great video!
@mspat81955 ай бұрын
You are destroying more than germs. A microwave changes the molecular structure of liquids & zaps away all nutrients. Look into Colloidal Silver . . . . . Antibiotic Antifungal Antibacterial Antimicrobial You can make & use it for disinfecting, wound care, eye wash, etc., for pennies a gallon Take it orally as a preventative &/or remedy. 💞~👵

I do my dishes slightly differently. I do the same as far as the wash water for one becomes the wash water for the next, etc. But I keep the wash water and rinse water separately. The used in tiers like you rinse water becomes my next wash water. Enjoy your journey. ☺️

I use one of those garden pump bottles that's a half gallon and I have all my dirty dishes in a tub I put a little dish soap in there and then I spray the dishes and rinse the dishes and it all goes in the tub and I use about a half gallon or less to do all my dishes including pots and pans.

Weak acetic acid in vinegar reacts with baking soda's sodium bicarbonate to create carbon dioxide gas, which causes the mixture to foam. This reaction can lift stains and cut through grease, making it useful for cleaning silverware and toilet bowls.

We live in N central CA, S of Silicon Vly & are always in H2O saving mode. I've always used your tip about pouring the washing soapy water from smallest to largest dishes. & now I'm going to add your method for cleaning crusty cooked on food stuck in pan bottoms. That's definitely a water saving winner for our conservation efforts in our stix & brixs home. When we RV we also reuse as much water as possible too, like for toilet flushing. At home, flushing is for #2 only while #1 mellows. It's amazing how much water people can save if they just stop & think about it. TFS all your tips - & great reminders on ways to save our planet & our water resources.❤

I buy a bag of lemons, juice them and strain/pour into a quart spray bottle. Lemon juice works the same as baking soda only better, easier clean up, smells great and lifts baked on crud so well. I clean my toilets, everything with it. I can’t breathe in any chemicals now I just use dawn and lemon juice. You can use it on your wood too for dusting
@SuperSushidog5 ай бұрын
We use the Best Value lemon juice from Walmart as it's less than 10 cents/ounce. Fresh lemons are 69 cents each around here and ours will only give you about 2 ounces of juice. We use it for washing chicken, in iced tea and on fish as well as cleaning and disinfecting our cutting board. Bottled lime juice works just as well and is even cheaper. I haven't bought any fresh limes in several months as they have been too high, but I just found decent sized limes (not the little Mexican ones) at my local Walmart for only 25 cents each, so I splurged and bought some. It looks like it will be taco and margarita night soon. Ole!

I find paper plates wasteful both in resources and cost. Your dishwashing is ok but as a British person, we fill a bowl with water and dish soap then wash from cleanest (glassware) to dirtiest. One bowl usually does all and the water is saved for the toilet which is a great suggestion.

With all due respect, I don't get using vinegar and baking soda together. Vinegar is acetic acid. Baking soda is sodium acetate, a base. When an acid and base combine they neutralize each other. In this case you are left with plain water, salt and CO2 gas. It's fun to watch the fizz but it doesn't actually do anything toward cleaning that using one or the other separately wouldn't do better. Yes, it's a "hack" that's all over the internet, but that doesn't make it true. Why not do an experiment video on this and really help your viewers?

@Lori-t6i6 ай бұрын
But it's common knowledge that Vinegar is a good cleaner. And she is using the baking soda to scrub off the burnt on food. So in this case, the use of both, for two different reasons, is common sense. When I used to work at a restaurant, we'd use ice cubes and salt to remove burnt coffee from the coffee pots. That doesn't mean ice cubes and salt are good for cleaning in general!
@mhoram46 ай бұрын
@@Lori-t6i yes, either is a very good cleaner alone, but when you put both together then the result is a non-cleaner, they cancel each other out. The urban myth is to use them together, which does not work
