Watching Jon grow in his career is a cool thing to witness. I didn't care too much for him at first, I ignorantly thought it seemed like they threw him in everything or he was trying too hard. But that was far from the truth. Seeing him in Sicario, punisher, those who wish me dead, the accountant, and most recently we own this city...changed my perspective entirely. This dude can act. I have mixed emotions about Jaybird here because an uncle of mine was incarcerated due to his "black biscuit" investigation. I respect the fact that Agent Dobyns came from the same kind of blue collar back ground that I did in Arizona, he just went a different way than I did. Not everyone who was patched deserved what they got, but I give Jaybird credit that he didn't fabricate anything or lie under oath like other cops had. We all learn our hard lessons...he learned his on two wheels and I eventually learned mine in a Humvee in Fallujah. My respect to Mr. Bernthal for sitting down with someone that I wanted to truly understand.

I was a DEA agent who was assigned to Baltimore for six years. I've heard the tape he's talking about. When his partner finally makes it to him, he thinks he's still alive, and talking to him, but everyone else can tell he's dead and they go along with him, to keep him from going completely crazy. I also knew some of the agents who were covering him that day. It messed them all up really bad. But, what a great interview.. I had read Dobyns book already, it's a great read, and I have too say Jon Bernthal is a really unexpectedly good interviewer.

I did 28 years as a cop. I like him was put straight to undercover work because I was 20 and looked like a kid. Looking back I’m not proud of being deceitful and breaking the trust of some of the people I had got close with, I wouldn’t do it if I would have had a little more wisdom about myself. In the grand scheme it didn’t do much good but push an agenda for the political heads that really didn’t care if they defendants got rehabilitation or served time. They just wanted them on probation so they could get an endless amount of court fees .

I did a year once. They trumped up the charge even though no victims came, I was mentally deranged at the time. Years later I got another felony in the mail, and was held six days without being arraigned another time. As a natural born US citizen, my God given Constitutional right of freedom has been seriously denied and attacked by cops. Sad how Satanic it looks from here. The Holy Bible saying “Thou shalt not judge..” and all….just saying…
@prophez232 жыл бұрын
My dad was a cop mainly detective to for over 20 years and this was before the tag law enforcement agent was being thrown around and he considered himself a peace officer undercover. And one time he watched a guy they'd busted dead to rights with several thousand dollars in coke be walked right out the backdoor of booking and never booked in and when he asked questions he was told very sternly to be quiet or it might end badly for him. So he started thinking about quitting and then everything changed and it was all of a sudden law enforcement not public servant and he knew then that a political agenda was being played out and he quit and turned so hard against law enforcement that he gained many enemies and tons of lost friends but he didn't care. All the things he warned me about and to watch out for when I was a kid have all came true. Now I'm 50 and I'm seeing it more than ever. It's hard to even consider but it's a fact that in most cases the "criminal" is more honest and of better character than the cop who arrest them. The vast majority of cops these days are criminals themselves and live for the day when they can ventilate someone. And I learned a long time ago that there's no such thing as a good cop because they all are conformist and you can't be a moralist and be a conformist and all laws are nothing more than the opinions of politicians backed by the threat of force and law enforcement aka domestic terrorist hold the monopoly on force and violence. The only true laws are those where there's an actual victim and the rest are solely designed to generate revenue for the state and federal government. I don't look at cops like I once did as a kid. Now I teach my children the same thing my dad taught me and how to dance around the many political land mines in place. It's the only way to live in this country anymore. And even then there's no guarantee that you won't find yourself in a cage then paying for something that will eventually wreck your life financially. One day the people of this country are going to have enough of it and I sure wouldn't want to be a cop either currently or in the past when that day comes. They don't realize that their information is forever set in a database and once people decide to permanently get rid of these individuals they won't be able to hide or escape the fact that they played a part in the decline and fall of our once great Republic.....

I looked down, saw the shining metal and long blade, and he said, "Wallet". For a brief moment I thought of how I might get out of it, what technique I could use, and I had been training in self-defense against knife attack etc. The words of my instructor were so clear in my head at that moment, "You fight, you will bleed". I thought to myself, 'money or blood'. I gave him my wallet. He ran off. I could walk home, not ride in the back of an ambulance.

Seems like everyone has podcasts nowadays. Even a big time actor like Jon Bernthal has one.

Remember watching this guy on the Pat Mcafee Show in the early days. And man can I listen to this guy talk about his life stories!

Jon Bernthal is hella underrated. Jon if you read this, good show you got. I also think you look a lot like mobster Sonny Franzese (as a compliment) and it would be really cool to see you play him in a movie one day. I was kind-of disappointed with The Many Saints of Newark, but you were great as Johnny boy Soprano. Would be cool to see you in some more mob movies

I agree. I love Michael Franzese, just pure class content.

When I saw that you're back. I was ecstatic. But why go to patreon 😢 Bring back the whole episode's here on KZbin. We're begging you, Jon! Still love you!

Isn't Patreon a paid service? That would explain the 'why'. Get people interested using free platforms like KZbin, then switch to services that charge. Disappointing, but not surprising. Rich people just want more riches.

This dude came to talk at my college, which is located in the same territory as the Hells Angels he busted. After the talk he went out to the bars in town and was drinking and partying with my fellow students (I was 19 at the time). He had a bullet proof vest on but that didn't stop the party haha

Now that Sonny has passed he can go on with the bullcrap about the way it actually went , they said they never gave hima patch at any moment during his undercover operation..... and they had a pretty good idea that the picture was staged by cops .
