Try to intimidate kids to assault him, after he's already assaulted one of them. Good on those kids for not falling into the trap. And the absolutely pathetic "I'm the victim here' attitude when the other officer arrived? He might as well have been made of glass. The officer knew from jump the Chief was lying. He had probably taken something that wouldn't be seen on the tests, since he was regularly tested in school. I feel like he pushed the "just test me dude!" a little too hard, they both know most of the drugs out there won't be seen on tests. That said, they have a quota to fill. I agree the cop was not good, but i also dont think the suspect is right when he says that the police officer will "look stupid" when the test shows 0. Here we dont even do these silly sobriety tests they have a funnel to put onto the handheld tester and most everyone stopped for any reason gets to blow toward it. It will then show if there is any amount of alcohol in the breath and if there is, the police officer will put a tube on and the test will be repeated. It is never silly to do routine test, anyone that has not been drinking has nothing to fear from this simple test.

I get what you’re saying. Maybe if they paid the same salary as a therapist they could attract better candidates. Then they would be able to weed those types out more quickly because they wouldn’t be just trying to fill positions with the few people willing to take the job. Paying off that kind of student loan debt on an officer’s salary would take forever. Also, not many people want to have their lives in danger on a daily basis for the low pay & long, bad hours. The reality is that when the pay is low, the work is hard, & the treatment by the public is disrespectful at best, the quality of candidates reflects this. The good guys no longer think it’s worth it anymore. The obvious solution would be to have higher salaries & higher pre-qualifications in order to apply. Unfortunately, governments are too busy wasting tax dollars everywhere else so it’ll never happen.

@@txs6648 When I was in my first few years I made 24k a year. It wasn’t until I got my first certification that my pay changed - and even then only to 32k a year. It took a long time and a lot of credentialing to make what I make now. You’ll find that’s fairly standard across the clinical field for anyone who isn’t an MD or psychiatrist. The state police here start at 28-32k a year. Local LEO right around that. So, I don’t think pay is what you’re looking at. @@2genders-tk2ue”defund the police” means strip down the bloated police budget, and increase the number of social workers who can reach peaceful solutions and help people. Most of the time the police are called, it’s because someone is having a crisis, a mental health issue, or domestic argument, that kind of thing. And cops are usually terrible at de escalating tension. Even when they’re good with people, they’re intimidating to people. So it’s best to use the right tools for the situation. If someone with a gun is murdering kids in a classroom, then you send cops - though if you follow the news you’ll know they are useless in that situation, too.

@jayg33910 ай бұрын
The term "defund the police" is a poor term for what I think most people want. Police Officers kind of serve a wide net of services that they aren't always prepared for. For example, they deal with a lot of mental health situations. Now people going through mental health crisis can be unstable, and police have an ability to defend with lethal force if they feel threatened. Because there are a lot of guns in the United States, it leads to a lot of situations where police have to use their weapon. One of the suggested alternatives is diverting certain funding away from law enforcement(defund) into a mental health crisis team that would deal with those types of calls instead of police. Then there is corruption. The idea is drop funding for agencies that are/have been accused of corruption or employ known corrupt law enforcement officers. Now I don't particularly agree with it because, like you said, it doesn't solve the problem. The problem is more that a lot of prosecutors/police departments work hand in hand and the people who investigate abuses of power or corruption are highly tied in with the department. It's kind of impossible to avoid because they work together. So the better solution there would be to have some type of independent board that is responsible for these types of investigations. Regardless of if the investigation is partial or impartial, it tends to look really bad when an officer is accused of misconduct and the police department puts out a statement saying something to the effect of "the officers actions were within the perimeters of their legal authority and justified by A,B,C, etc." Needless to say it's a complicated issue that like many things requires multifaceted solutions. @@petervanquish

And, I mean- being nervous enough to slightly fumble when being intimidated by a cop seems kinda like it'd be the default. Not to mention that some people have coordination problems etc.- there are any number of reasons for that happening, jumping to the conclusion of not being sober is ridiculous for such a tiny and harmless thing. They were not being destructive, and they weren't drinking/drugging. This was probably their first interaction with a LEO, and that will stay with them likely forever. These types of police misconduct are all over social media. It's quite sad when a good portion of the public is hesitant to call their local police for help when they need it because they fear the entire force is corrupt and the call will somehow blow back on them. It's as if the police forces are operating in the 1950s while everyone else is living in 2024. I really believe we need a federal law requiring officers to have body-cams footage of all arrests made in uniform because there are still police and sheriff departments that don't use body-cams at all. I worked on a defendant's case from Polk Co., Florida, and I thought there was some mistake when there was no body-cams footage in Discovery. The Polk Co. Sheriff makes enormous busts practically every month and holds a press conference within a couple of days of the bust. These arrests make national headlines, but knowing what I now know, I definitely wouldn't put it past this sheriff to fabricate evidence in order to get a conviction. I have never said nor thought that about any sheriff or chief. I bet you have even seen a few of his pressers on YT. I'm not saying all of his dept's arrests are bad, but I feel certain that he and his deputies have no problem lying under oath.

@twistedshades55604 ай бұрын
@@svteenostalgia The point was to warn him to leave. To tell him to get out of there. It doesn't even count as battery in the court here where I live. He just physically warned to show he can take physical action if the kid refuses to listen to his warnings. That was it. Obviously the cop could have gone easier on him since he's a kid that's supposed to be dumb, but maybe he was having a bad day. Maybe he was tired that week. Maybe he's got his own annoying kids to deal with already. The kid obviously cant go easy on him cuz he aint that mature yet and I get that. But I also get the cop didn't have patience that day. The kid could have played that much smarter and all of it would be resolved within 5 mins if he genuinely was in like a hurry to get home or get out of there. Patience is hard to sustain in jobs like this where you have to deal with adult versions of that stupid kid who want to remain stupid kids and act like Karens. Cops should have weekly meetings, 30 minutes or so a week where they have to watch these videos and identify what the cops did wrong. Also tell them the punishment the cop/ Cops received, giving priority to showcasing situations where the perpetrators' punishment was jail and being fired. Might help to prevent the "above the law" mentality that so many Cops have! Not to mention that so many of the cops in this video seemed ignorant of the law and rights protecting citizens!

I haven't had many interactions with the police over my 73 years but I have had a few stops. Usually the officer will ask the usual questions - where are you coming from, where are you headed? Knowing that the only legal requirement is to provide your license, registration, and insurance, I refused to answer questions. When I do this, I remain calm, become exceedingly polite and respectful but firm and resolute in my position. This frustrates the hell out of the less than intelligent officer because you won't help them convict you. There isn't a lawyer in the country that will advise anyone to talk to the police.

I've had a few speeding tickets over the years without any drama, but I am fed up with police in these videos asking where you're going/where you're coming from. That's none of their business and if I ever get stopped again, I'll follow your lead and refuse to answer! Wish me luck.

@@physicsguybrianI have dealt with lots of cops in my life, and literally zero of them have been a good cop. Every single one has been on a power trip. The father of the girl I took to prom was a cop and questioned me over something stupid, and started accusing me of doing it while trying to gaslight me. When my mom pulled into a Taco Bell parking lot to use the restroom, a cop pulled her over and told her she illegally rode the shoulder, then slammed the door on her leg when she said she was going to piss herself. I’ve been pulled over in my own fucking driveway when a cop accused me of driving recklessly. In reality he was investigating a burglary in the neighborhood and wanted to check me out. I have quite a few more examples, including cops that bought and moved drugs from one of my neighbors. They are legally allowed to lie to you, manipulate you, and falsely accuse you with minimal legal percussions. And when they finally do have a repercussion, they are allowed to retire to continue collecting pension while tax payers pay for any lawsuit thanks to qualified immunity. People in power get hot heads and think they are better than others. I’m sure there are good cops out there, but I have literally never met one

@@physicsguybrian Nah. Good people don't tend to aim to go into jobs which amount to "professional bully" (as shown to be the case in this very video many times with every cop present). These episodes should actually be a show on TV. We all need to be enlightened about the abuses happening out there. How about a class in the schools about knowing your rights?
