Congrats on reaching 20k! Saw you were watching 「ゆる言語ラジオ」 in the middle of the stream but I just wanted to mention that they also have a side channel called 「ゆるコンピューター科学ラジオ」that I think you would probably find interesting because it's the same podcast format but they talk about computer science and things related to technology. It's also really enjoyable content.

@@Hoppitot I think so yeah, but not in reading. I did more reading and less listening for mining than livakivi. I’m focusing on listening now, which when subless firstly provides less opportunity for mining, but secondly is way more inconvenient to mine imo.

Dude... the use of "Expression" over the cards Core 2k/6k option is such a simple idea but I never though about it! JESUS! I swear, reading a single kanji word without context was breaking my brain and constantly forgetting words and now it will be SO much better for my study. Thanks!

@@kogre91 on Anki you can edit how cards are being shown. You can check online the exact menu but the general rule is getting into the deck, then "browse", then "cards", "front template" and add the "{{Expression}}" using font-medium to avoid showing furigana.

I dropped '2k/6k deck' first time for the same reason. Now using word+sentence on the front side of cards and my recognition is over 98%. Also tried that method with polish and it is working excellently. In the end, the purpose of cards is to bootstrap recognition, and 'complete' learning of words will be done by reading/listening.

20 cards a day for that long is impressive. I wish I started when I was younger so i could handle that.. my brain is so crowded full of crap that i can barely handle 5-10 a day. It takes a while to push out something to make room for the new long term memories. I guess im kind of lucky to start sentence mining from the very start though. I knew about 100 words when I started. at about 4-5k mined words/phrases learned

20:34 What's the KZbinr's name here? It sounds like ‘ginakamon’, but there are no hits for that. I guess it's more likely to be ‘inakamon’, and I found a KZbin channel by the name of 田舎モン, but it's a VTuber with only a few hundred subscribers, and they sound very normal and not hard to understand at all, so I doubt it's them. Halp?

Hey, congrats! This is truly inspiring, especially the fact that you didn't miss a day in over 4 years, I have to work on that. 😅 Quick question: I'm sure you've mentioned it before, but do you review your cards with sentence or with the word on front?
@Livakivi
@Livakivi Жыл бұрын
In the anki tutorial video I made, I showed how I review a card and what I focus on, but mostly on the word, since the sentences are broken anyway most of the time due to the youtube autosubs.
@humanbean3
@humanbean3 Жыл бұрын
personal anecdote: when i first started mining i used sentence on the front and i started recognizing the sentence as a whole and knew the word without actually knowing the kanji that well. when i switch to only the word on the front, and sentence on the back, i started doing much better. you can review the sentence as a whole on the back or not depending on how fast u wanna get ur reviews done.

Hi I wanted to ask you : at the beginning of the video, when you go through the 2.3/6k deck. How did you make it so that you have both the kanji and the sentence on the front? (Did you do it manually or did you just do it in the settings ?)

I think I'll probably quit after 7.5-10k cards. I have 2.5k atm with several thousand other words known through osmosis or previous study before learning about anki/immersion. I'd wager my vocabulary is around 8k total. I can already understand KZbin or sol stuff with ease as it is, I can't see making it to 20k as being something I could bring myself to do.

You got migaku pretty late but even so how would you deal with duplicate cards? You can't add sentences to the front otherwise migaku will think they are words you are learning. Even being 500 words in I am honestly thinking of just switching to core 2.3k instead of 6k.
@Livakivi
@Livakivi Жыл бұрын
Pretty sure you can configure the fields from which it parses the known words list, but I personally have been just marking them manually after the first sync, as soon as I mine a new word, I mark it as yellow.
