- Clements should be disqualified and get a soft ban. He is a cheater and a very toxic player and we don't need such people in the dl community. - judge should be banned from DL events. We also SERIOUSLY need a judge route and stop calling random people to judge at big events. I had similar judge issues at other dlcs that's not acceptable. -prizes should be given to Jesse (at minimum the mickey). You cannot just walk out of this situation with a sorry.

I was sitting beside a french player in one of my matches and he was super aggressive standing up and yelling at the top of his lungs "judge" multiple times for a guy missing his smee trigger. Judge just came over and said "you need to put a damage on smee" as you'd expect. He then proceeded to argue with the judge and try and get a game win saying it was intentional and the player was trying to get an advantage. Me and my opponent had to stop playing for about 5m because it was so distracting.

I mostly blame the judge, because mistakes happen cheating attempts happen and the judges only job is to resolve them correctly. I can't imagine that there were many rulings that day and to get one so important wrong is simply shameful.

Alot of these judges at these dlc events are volunteers with minimal knowledge even has litteral children judging not sayings kids dont know how the game works but my own children would have trouble figuring out confrontation of 2 grown ass adults argueing about something in a game.

I can see an argument to be made for things that are more difficult, like the first thing of the top of my hat is the legendary jafar who gains lore when drawing cards singing friends on the other side where there even was an Errata clearing things up. I disagree. I think the judge made a huge rookie mistake, but it was Clement who called for the judge. He knew what he was doing, he knew all the advantage he was getting for that. Like some have already pointed out, a very similar interaction happened before and Clement didn’t called for a judge. Yeah that was OBVIOUSLY an attempt to sway the game in his favor. If you play in any local tournament, you would be QUICKLY corrected- player chooses the resolution order of triggered abilities.

You do not need to announce all your triggers to go in the bag. You can resolve them in any order. If another action, such as inking or playing a card, occurs between the goat and broom trigger then the broom is considered to be a "no" decision since it is a may. That didn't happen. The triggers are the only thing being resolved. Given Clement's history of playing this game at a very high level, I would be shocked if he didn't know the rules. He even demonstrated that he knew the rules earlier. It is extremely likely that Clement cheated.

Rule 1.9.4 of the comprehensive rules states that triggers that are added to the bag due to a game state check are added AUTOMATICALLY after any other necessary triggers resolve (IE goat)

And the tournament rules state this When a player has multiple simultaneous actions to resolve, that player must announce the order of resolution before beginning to resolve the first one. The order can't change once the first action has begun. Ravinsfail should have removed this line from the rules. Due to not stating the tigger it did not go into the bag. Plus where does it say which rules you should follow when you have 3 different things. Tournament rules, comprehensive rules and play corrective guidelines.

Wouldnt this ruling basically imply there are "missed triggers" in Lorcana, which there isnt. That would mean in any interaction with Goat and Broom you have to resolve Goat and not Broom.

Lentini should have appealed immediately (assuming it wasn't the head judge, which it shouldn't have been), and should absolutely persue it with RB. Something this blatant needs to be investigated. My local judges are better and actually read the rules. You choose the order of simultaneous triggers. This was before the bag rule was made to make it more understandable. I’ve been able to by rule trigger something before ending my turn. There are no phases in this game. I’ve quested with chernabog followers and chose to banish after I’ve drawn multiple times to see my hand first.

As a competitive player From yugioh/pokemon/MTG who know is fondly in love with Lorcana and trying to be objective as possible. I believe Clement has angle Shot and ussed word play to convince the judge to rule this incorrectly, giving him a massive advantage in this game. His actions create a game state that greatly benefited him from a situation that shouldn't happen and a player of his level knows how broom works. He had no issue earlier in the match when broom and the flower triggered at the same time. I strongly believe Ravensburg need to be strong, this is the first time I think we have seen something like this in Lorcana at a major official event. They should Stamp it out. The player should receive a suspension along with forfiet of prizes, the judge should be re-trainined. I worry if ravensburg do nothing players will see this and those who want to seek an edge will start to do these things at all levels of play.

ok, so I was DLC and was watching with Jesse's brothers for the final. the judge who made the call is the head judge, and unfortunately, he has never played lorcana before and went off his magic experience. they have said multiple times that if you dispute a heads judge decision, you can be DQ-ed, so jesse couldn't push it further. his brothers, however, did talk to the judge on the side and corrected him. judge says their right, and he made a mistake, but its too late now as the game has continued, and they can't reverse the game. it seriously fcked him over. there were a lot of talk about clement and his friends sharking or slyly cheating throughout the event too. checking reddit shows a lot of ppl talking about the crap they've pulled, too

I understand it’s a competition and a lot at risk, but that is pretty scummy game play. The trigger happens regardless and you can’t tell your opponent he can’t resolve his own triggers within a reasonable timeframe. He obviously knew what he was doing and unfortunately the judge must have not been fully paying attention or doesn’t know how to properly resolve the accusation so he took advantage of that situation. I played in the main event at NA Nationals. The judges were particularly strict and stern for no reason all day. Though I respect the judges for the games I compete in, there is no reason to threaten DQs for minor infractions (where a game or match loss will do), talk in a hard manner to players when the atmosphere is supposed to be "fun," and especially not tolerate ticky-tack rule-sharking like this. For some reason, Disney Lorcana's judges are more ridged than other judges, and I hope this changes because intent and context matters when deciding punishment. Lighten up. Take context into consideration when handing out infractions or rulings. Clement is a desperate player looking to cheese for a win. And while he may have gotten the win, his reputation is now forever tarnished. Imagine using the best deck in the game and having to sink that low on stream. And shame on the judge for allowing this kind of low-balling behavior at a high-level event.

As a Yu-Gi-Oh judge, believe me when i say a judge program is mandatory. The description of the bag is dramatically underdeveloped and not needing to declare which optional triggers are being activated is a nightmare . In YGO this is mandatory and it still leads to fights over which effects were or weren't declared because of ambiguities or errors in communication. The phrasing of Lorcana cards feels more confusing with "*action* chosen character" as it's awkward phrasing and it makes more sense syntactically to chose a character first then apply the action afterwards. Every game gets more complicated and i suspect the Vanish key word means there will be more incoming triggers on your opponent's turn.

I'm very confused, I don't see why either Clement or the Judge would have an issue with the broom trigger. In a strict grammar based rule game like Yu-gi-oh, a "When" trigger would miss timing as something happens after the character ETBs, but this is Lorcana. I have an example of why this "Whenever" type wording does not work in the same way as Yu-gi-oh... Green 3 Ursula - Whenever this character sings a song, you may play that song again from your discard for free, then put it on the bottom of your deck. For this effect to be treated the same way, you would have to... 1) Exert Ursula to sing 2) declare the "Whenever" effect is being used (even though the song isn't in the GY so has no target) 3) confusion, do you resolve like a yu-gi-oh chain so the "Whenever" will always fail due to missing timing or no target? My interpretation of "Whenever" was more similar to the Yu-gi-oh's "If", meaning the effect makes a new chain after the currant one has resolved.

One was playing close to under the table and dropping cards and the other was moving shifted cards to Hidden Cove and questing with both cards after splitting. So from the judges side of things do they expect play goat and announce brooms ability in the bag, then announce gaining 1 lore from goat then choose not to use brooms ability? The broom trigger should not need declared and it should not need announced to be in the bag. This is using the rules to an extreme level. If this is in fact the rules good on Clement for knowing the rules this well. If this is some grey area then shame on Clement for demanding it not to happen. IMO. Ideally hopefully we all learn along with Jesse how this needs to happen.

This needs to be shown directly to Ryan Miller and Steve Warner for how they intended the ruling to go down. If it's what they intended then great--French guy knew the rules and should be rewarded for knowing the specifics. If it isn't what the game developers intended then this is a mistake on Ravensburgers/Lorcana's end and the Australian player needs to be compensated with atleast a Golden Mickey if not more. I think in general I encourage people to call judge whenever they are unsure of something. I'm against a culture where people get shunned to call a judge. I hope that a fair outcome is made for the parties involved.

There is a question mark there. The player may have made that call attempting to cheat, and if that is the case, then saying that he cheated would be correct. So wouldn't you resolve the card you are playing first, so the complete resolution would be play the Goat and gain the lore to complete playing the card, then you can trigger the broom. If you don't fully resolve the Goat, then you haven't 'played' the character therefore the broom can't trigger. Clement should have been reprimanded for calling the judge when it wasn't required - especially when he didn't have an issue with the same thing in a previous game which essentially creates a precedence. Such a toxic player - glad his team took action against him

I don't think there is even a justifiable reasoning for how the judge came to that ruling to be honest. I have not played at that level of competition but even I know not to leave a broom exerted with a half shark on board.

In my locals I was assigned a game loss at top cut in a challengue tournament for shuffling my deck while mulliganing before drawing the cards. I told it to my opponent, he said i had a game loss and the owner of the store approved. I agree a judge route would better help resolve situations involving dark triad traits that we can all resort too.

Hey QM, I was rhere at the event, so yes i heard/Seen all drama go down IRL & yes to confirm it was Top 4 only Golden Mickeys, We were all abit nad about that as every other DLC has been Golden Mickey goes to Top 8, so we (aussies) feel we got abit Ripped off! The moment of this issue is abit BS! Cause ever since day dot when ive started lorcana & I learned from other players & plenty of Content Creators explained "The Bag ruling" soo with that being said Both triggers of Broom & Goat go into the bag & you (Jesse as the active player) can resolve either Broom or Goat tirgger in any order! Soo many player's went on about this during & after the match & then when it happened, Clemont basically says no Broom trigger due to Lore gain from Goat, it shouldnt matter what order it happened, thats bs!

it makes sense for top4 to get Golden Mickey. 500 players also should've had less ppl for day 2 also. Prizes are based on attendance. Wish RB announced this DLC sooner to get more ppl

I can’t remember if it was game 2 or 3 but this exact interaction happened with a white rose instead and because clement didn’t have a Maui shark on board he let the trigger go through. Little fishy if you ask me

I was also sad to see an Aussie lose out on top 4. Someone else who was there also explained a bit of what happened in the moment. If what you say is true on your last line, then I would be inclined to think Clement attempted to get a positive judge call on something he knew was fine.

I whole-heartedly feel for Jesse and disagree with what Clement did. However, I see a lot of people saying that players don't need to announce their triggers in the bag. This is technically not true. In the Comprehensive Rules it does say that players can take things out in any order they choose. However, in the the Tournament Rules in the Communication section (4.3) it does state, "When a player has multiple simultaneous actions to resolve, that player must announce the order of resolution before beginning to resolve the first one. The order can’t change once the first action has begun. " Now, is what clement did super shitty? Yes. But I don't think it is fair to bash the judges as hard as people are. If Jesse did not announce the order, that is against the literal interpretation of the rules. I suspect this comment won't be received well, but the judges may have just been put into a shitty position of having to uphold a rule most people take for granted.

Rule 1.9.4 of the comprehensive rules states that triggers that are added to the bag due to a game state check are added AUTOMATICALLY after any other necessary triggers resolve (IE goat) 1 Reply

when the order doesn't matter (if terms of no new information etc) then rule sharking shouldn't be a thing, like in this case it makes no difference to the game if i add the lore before or after adding the card to my hand if the card said discard 1 then draw 2, of course it matters if you draw then discard however in this kinda thing its just a lame thing to do.

Did Clement gain the lore corectly when he played pirates life? Looks like he quested with all of them so that's 4 lore, pirates life gain 2 then the sharks triggers so that's plus to more or an I wrong ty for the help just trying to see if I've been doing this wrong.

As long as he didn’t pass you can banish the broom after playing the goat and getting the lore. That’s how I won my games and the referee needs to be fine and ban also Jesse should be the winner and I’m sorry but this really pissed me off and Jesse should be invited to worlds cause of this
