@@ArchiHacks It's good that you/the competition isn't asking for a long list of detailed drawings/elevations etcetera. Idea competitions should just be about the concept. You could be leading the way here by setting a new precedent and saying that the only entry requirement is a single A3 page with featuring whatever you think is important to explain the idea. With that format it'd also be easier to let anyone in the community to enter and vote. It's not wrong to charge something to participate. Around 10 bucks might be acceptable. But to charge that high of a cost is borderline unethical, no other group of professionals would put up with paying to do free work. Were the prices chosen to give the reviewers a good hourly rate? As you know, most competitions rely on delusional students to cover the operating costs. I'd be very surprised if it it really was a problem for either the municipality or Wesgroup to cover these costs. If it was they'd be going through bankruptcy and obviously wouldn't follow through with any proposal. But a large part of their job is about finding ways to cut costs, so their first move will always to pretend that they can't afford it.

By saying that “technical drawings are not needed,” you increase the number of potential participants in the competition several times. At the same time, the cost of registering an application is very high. In the end, this is a way to spend nothing on getting a lot of free ideas. Better to lessen the registration fee and decrease the price.

How can i apply if i am technically a student, but take classes online through a certification program so its not a standard university and it doesnt show up in the list of schools that qualify me as a student on the application portal
