I enjoy your videos! I would call Ural and see if they could cover the bad speedometer, even if the bike is out of warranty. They seem pretty good about these things...

I called, was told no. But, didn't hurt to ask. I'm not overly upset about it. I mean, eventually things run out of warranty and that's the contract you "sign" when you buy something with a warranty. I'm more ticked with Drift Innovations and the 1 year 1 month old camera that swelled up and the battery burst and they said "Sorry, it's out of warranty, but you can buy a new one for 20% off direct from us..." which pretty much drops to price to what you can buy it on Amazon for. Come on, 1 month and a safety concern (the battery swelled up and burst) on a component that should have lived 3 to 5 years and the best you can do is take 2 weeks to respond and tell me to buy a new one direct from them for the same price I can buy it on Amazon? But, I'm not bitter.

Wow such a long trip I really commend you on that bean and jalapeno gyro he's a real good dealer I would love for him to have the rallies again because I live in Punta Gorda and I would ride out all the way out there to enjoy the camaraderie of other people who enjoy these unique motorcycles it's nice to be with people who understand this way you don't have to explain cuz even when you explain they still shake your head cuz they don't understand

20160 m70. Mine started staying on when it rained or sat overnight in the fog. Once it dried out it quit. Suspect fray where wires run under tool box under seat. I'll know for sure in a couple days. Will also check all grounds. Might also be in switch assembly. We'll see, and I'll keep you posted.

My two-piece original driveshaft on my rate lasted twenty-five years I had about 35,000 miles on it when it just started to go out nobody would touch the bike so I got to Manuel and Gene from Halep are Euro gave me advice and with my party shopping tools from around the corner I did it myself none of these hundred dollar an hour Harley mechanics would touch a simple job like that it took me three times as long but I'm not a professional mechanic and it's woodworking Falls with the one piece driveshaft you have to loosen the swingarm and then you have to loosen the stock so you have to loosen a lot of parts to be able to wiggle through the hole in the swingarm I just love the satisfaction of doing it myself and I brag about it to all these guys who call themselves a wrench

2016 m70. Same problem will soak switch in contact cleaner, ancheck grounds and wires from fuse box running under tool box under seat. Only does it in rain or heavy fog. Will keep you posted.

This was a bad speedo, finally replaced it when it wouldn't even let the bike start.
@annafraley53884 жыл бұрын
Yep, I’ve “Done That” before... replacing bad ignition switches... 1:34 🤭😟 Ok, so I guess you Didn’t go I-10 coming back from NOLA.. if you went through Appalachacola Florida I guess you were on 98 going through Perry then not that far (29 miles) from our place... Can’t figure out which way you went from ther to Holopaw, rt 27 or stay on 98 until about the Crystal River area and cut over to I-75 🤷🏻♂️
@GoneUraling4 жыл бұрын
We cruised from NOLA as "close to the water" as we could stay the entire way. We followed 98, but if an option to get closer (like the 30A down to the tip) we took it. We actually spent the night in the Apalachicola Bay Inn.

I’m still waiting on my keihin EFI kit too. I ordered it aug 3rd. I replaced the flasher with an LED friendly one and put LED bulbs in all the blinkers. I was going to do a complete conversion to LED but bailed out when I determined the brake and running lights were positive ground.

I got mine yesterday!!!! Looks like it comes with everything you need. Already printed out the manual and read through it. Looks like a lot of "uninstall" followed by a lot of "install". Nothing seems complicated though maybe tedious in places. I do not anticipate any problems. After a vote whereupon I was told what to do, my Wife's rig will be upgraded first.
@williamrobertson89624 жыл бұрын
Gone Uraling great news! Mine still hasn’t shipped. I did the oil pump/sump/breather upgrade and it was fairly straight forward and the components seem a lot better built, especially the newer oil pump.

What windshield do you have on your CT? Are you happy with it? Thanks

Disregard. Now I see you took the time to make a video on your windshield! Great series. I am trying to spec out a 21 CT to replace my 06 Tourist

Hate to say it, was saying, oh no, another bad speedo the whole time...come on, you went to Tech, you know relays don't do that, they are stupid, either on or off...now transistors, diodes and capacitors, oh yeah...might even just be a switch inside the thing somewhere, who knows. Speedos need to be dumb IMHO...that one is trying to do too much...and I can't make mine read the speed right anyhow...time to turn it into a tach...
@GoneUraling4 жыл бұрын
Actually, there is a mode of failure that will leave the indicator light on in some, but not all relays. Part of how it knows to "fast blink" vs. normal blink with a bad bulb. I needed to be sure it was not the relay, though going in I readily admit I was pretty certain it was not. The Speedo in the cT is the 3rd it has had since new. Now that it's out of warranty... I suppose we will ignore it since it is fully functional otherwise.

I had to get my speedo replaced last year too. Completely dead. The worst part is having to reset your maintenance records to the new speedo.

@@GoneUraling The bike might be out of warranty, but check to see if the new part is covered. My 2016 got a new final drive a little less than a year ago and the gasket leak was covered (parts only)

Great troubleshooting on the blinker light. I am hoping that you do some videos of the Keihin install and everything that goes with it. Also impressions of it.... worth the $$$$$$ (lots of $)?
@GoneUraling4 жыл бұрын
yep, for the Retro it was a no brainer, I love the bike, I want to ride it for a long time to come and Ural currently doesn't offer anything else I'd want so, UPGRADE. As for the cT, that was a tougher choice but after doing maths, it makes sense to us. Neither of us have any real complaints about either rig except engine performance. The hesitation, stumbling etc... inherent to the ElectroJet EFI gets old after awhile.

I wonder what a Russian Ural owner would think about paying 1.3 to 1.9 million rubles for new bike?
@annafraley53884 жыл бұрын
Gone Uraling, Au So, even after Jon up in Ohio changed out your ecu on the retro... it is STILL doing that burping and hesitation Eh.?? That’s the biggest complaint I have had with mine since the night it was dropped of here from New England. 😟🤭🤬

I’m in Kazakhstan and there’s a 1994 Ural in great condition but it’s $2300 and beyond wondering if it’s overpriced I worry about importing it into the USA in 3 years. Any ideas on if that’s a smart move?
@GoneUraling4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't know in Kazakhstan what a 1994 Ural would be worth, one in good shape here I would not expect to bring more than $3000 and that would be in VERY GOOD shape. I can't speak to the difficulties of importing into the U.S. But there are a lot of Urals already here!
@frankmarkovcijr54592 жыл бұрын
I would bring my bike with me it doesn't cost that much to import an older motorcycle you can look up the requirements on the interweb I have a 1999 Euro I use it for everyday transportation if I was moving even off-planet I would bring my bike with me

Put the old speedometer back on because a Ural sidecar outfit it's so slow you don't need a speedometer I actually got pulled over for dawdling the cops started talking about buying asykar outfit and we had traffic backed up to the bridge because nobody would pass him because he had his lights on and we chatted for about 20 minutes about how nice your bikes were and then I looked back and truck traffic backed up as far as the eye could see hahaha I actually had a police officer pulled me over because I had a very interesting motorcycle

All of the lights on my 25 year old girl and the idiot lights as well still work course I have a petcock so I can't run it dry I myself have put 40,000 miles on the bike it used to be served biking line but after my last motorcycle accident now I used to for everyday transportation if you can find a 1994 Euro for $2,300 buy it before somebody else does I paid $4,000 for mine 7 years ago app for what I paid for it it's like buying the Sidecar and getting the motorcycle for free it went to two owners and 20 years and only had four thousand original miles on it I love riding on it it's so much fun and I am known to be the Bimmer guy and everyone tells me what a cool bike it is and the girls all tell me how cute it is and women love riding in the sidecar cuz they could drink coffee they can bloop bloop on the phone all they want they could read a book and I could hear something besides the back of their husband's head while they're riding on a motorcycle and people see them so much more than a regular bike I always get the thumbs-up from people and when I'm going slow and somebody slows down next to me in the fast lane and paces me that's because they're taking the bike out and I'm probably getting videotaped again riding a Ural motorcycle is almost like being a celebrity or maybe at least a tourist attractions hahahahaha

I just have gloated here because I have a set of Mikuni carburetors on my 1999 Euro and 25 years later they run as good as the day it came out of the factory if I can sit for 10 years and then all you have to do is clean the carbs only Japanese part on my Soviet belt Ural motorcycle are the Japanese carburetors a Mikuni make some of the best carburetor all of the other Soviet Parts including the ignition are 25 years old and still working fuel injection makes your bike run hot and lean and is not good for longevity and an airhead BMW style motor is known for being running cool the BMW's captured in World War II were tested and they ran 100 degrees cooler than an army Harley I would never have a fuel injected Euro expensive crap for pollution controls the hell with them
