If he did close them, the Animatronics could 100% brake it down. I think the reason as to why they don't just charge in and kill you, is because they are toying with the kid, playing with their food. And if he doesn't participate in their little game, like closing all the doors, they'll bust it down and kill him.

Nightmare is the most frightening of the animations for me. There are a couple of reasons for this: *unless you can get a still of him, his first appearances make him seem to have a somewhat ambiguous form. Not being able to surely identify what he is makes him more threatening to me. Even in his jumpscare, he has no solid outline aside from his eyes and teeth. It makes him feel less like one of the other animatronics and more like an incarnation of the child's death. With that in mind, even if you survive him, what he represents is still inevitable for the child. * TV static and garbled electronic noises have always been jarring for me. The beeping of a phone's extended disconnect also unsettles me when accompanied by silence. When I learned it was the sound of a distorted ambulance siren, this was made worse for me. * his jumpscare is actually not typical of the other animatronics. The still image along with sirens actually symbolized the child's brain literally ceasing function for me. *The combination of these details really cemented the feeling of death coming for this child, and since you're playing him, it feels like Nightmare is coming for YOU. It feels like you're trying to escape something you can't, something that, no matter what you do, will still consume you. That, for me, is terrifying.
