The phone call at the beginning of this night is one of the most lasting horror moments of the franchise imo. "What on earth are you doing there?" After all the lying and gaslighting phone guy has done, he can't even pretend like nothing's wrong.

He never was gaslighting anyone. He was just covering up the truth and misleading the player into thinking everything was kinda all right. Gaslighting would be if he said things to undercut you and deliberately make you doubt your own thoughts about the place.
