"Still out there" is really stretching it for some of these -- some of these cases are so old that the killer is definitely dead. Btw, LaLaurie's victims were *slaves*, not servants. Servants would/could have left; they were paid employees, they had rights & would have been listened to (eventually). Slaves had no such choice & no rights & no voice under the laws at the time; they were barely considered human. Their plight in that place was only believed when others saw it for themselves.

In the United States, state politicians are actively trying to rewrite and erase history because certain aspects make certain factions of people uncomfortable. Full stories need to be told so we don't keep falling into the same traps. I care about that. Most importantly, if you don't care, you could have scrolled past and said nothing.

Social justice warrior over here 😂 seriously dude no one was going "They said servant instead of slave we're vindicated" be concerned about real world issues instead of offended by word usage. Fun fact slave is one of those words KZbin flags, they said servant to make things easier on themselves within the algorithm.

@@baxtersmom279 There are still textbooks today that use the phrase "states' rights" as the context for the Civil War, largely due to groups like the Daughters of the Confederacy, who literally rewrote history in these textbooks. In fact, many people can't even recall which states were Union or Confederate, thanks to these revised textbooks, which continued to circulate into the early 2000s. A prime example is my own state, West Virginia. Due to poverty and a lack of quality education, many people here mistakenly believe West Virginia was a Confederate state. This is despite the fact that we staged a coup, seized Virginia's government, and split the state in two. That's why people refer to the pre-Civil War state as "Old Virginia." We became a state specifically to avoid committing treason, as we saw the Confederate states as illegal, especially since the Confederacy had no legitimate state government without the federal government. Instead of celebrating Union heroes like President Hayes, who fought and won many battles in West Virginia, we have statues of traitors who killed our people. How does this happen? Because West Virginia is poor, we can't afford private education, and the public schools here distorted history.

In my home country Germany there was a serial rapist, who preyed on young women in the area close to the university in Bochum (one of the larger cities in the very metropolitan Ruhrgebiet region). As far as I know he never murdered any of his victims, but as he kept striking again and again for about a whole decade, people were really scared of him. And then he simply dissappeared. He never got caught, despite DNA evidence and detailed descriptions by his victims. Maybe he died, but the idea, that he is a very prolific and dangerous sexual predator like this still roaming free in my home region creeps me out...

the I-70 killer has had me messed up for a long time... I live in Indiana, and I heard about it the first time when I was around 11, in 2002. As a kid this was TERRIFYING since every place I've lived in here has been within a couple miles of 70. In grade school and middle school, I was the only one in my classes living close to 70, and when classmates figured it out and learned about the killer, the mean ones wouldn't hesitate to act shocked that I hadn't been murdered yet. And that's why I have anxiety as an adult. :)

This is likely an issue with KZbin - KZbin doesn't allow certain words in videos. You gotta say "They destroyed themselves" or "They unalived themselves" because you can't say suicide. You can't use the P or the CP words talking about child predators while talking about what they owned. You gotta make sure you say "R-worded" when talking about assault of a sexual natural because SA and the R word aren't allowed, etc etc Even the ones I've seen that aren't making money from KZbin [thus not caring about getting demonitized] have videos just straight up disappear when using those words DESPITE them being educational. I've seen a lot of true crime/horror story channels have to just leave the platform because they had to do so much censoring it defeated the purpose of the story.

I remember when there was a claim into who the Zodiac Killer was, back in 2021. When they announced his name, I didn't believe it. I knew who that guy, Gary Poste was. Sure I didn't know him all that well, but I saw him around the town I grew up in, Groveland, CA. Not far from the Bay Area that the Zodiac was based in. But that wasn't confirmed. I was an emergency dispatcher during Hurricane Katrina, and I was fuming while listening to the call. Although it's best to remain even keeled for this profession, the male dispatch all but told her this wasn't important. He didn't listen to what she was saying and wasted alot of time. Why would she be supervising her own supervised visit?! Then the 2nd operator was just as bad. She started the call by asking her if she was calling about the fire. So she already had an inking of the nature of the call! I'm sure the CPS worker is guilt ridden over these events (doubt she was 'just one step' behind them), but those operators need to be fired.

9:44 There's no way Lizzie could have physically committed the murders. Her stepmother was struck 18 times with a hatchet-18 times. That requires an enormous amount of strength, and the weapon would almost certainly have become stuck at least once during the attack. What’s especially strange is that the second victim, her father, didn’t hear anything. The stepmother’s murder was so violent and loud that 18 hatchet strikes would have been hard to miss, yet her father, only a short distance away, seemed unaware. He was killed about 90 minutes later, quietly, in a similar manner. Even if Lizzie had burned a dress days afterward, she wouldn’t have had enough time to change, clean up, and hide the dress before the maid woke from her nap and discovered the bodies. The maid was in the room next to the stepmother, Lizzie was down the hall, and the second victim was directly downstairs. This wasn’t a large house-everyone was close by-so how did no one hear 18 violent strikes? The ax or hatchet was found in the basement, which had its own entrance. Interestingly, the stepmother's brother, who had been staying with the family uninvited just days before the murders, had an alibi provided by a family member that was never independently verified. The brother had a reputation as a loafer, struggling to keep a job and deeply in debt. After the murders, he inherited a portion of the estate and never faced financial troubles again. The case remains incredibly strange and raises many unanswered questions.

I don't think Lizzie Borden killed her father and step-mother, but I think she and Bridgette, and likely Lizzie's sister and their maternal uncle John Morse conspired to pay someone to kill them. Lizzie and Bridgette had to have been involved in the murders, but there is no way either of them personally carried out the murders.
