They're getting more open. Look for the YT vids... they are speaking out! AND VOTING. This year? because the current administration went to their farms, TOOK ALL THEIR MILK, EQUIPMENT, MONEY, EVERYTHING. A lot of ppl - including children with severe medical issues NEED raw milk, so they had a "buyers club" & sold it privately. But not good enough for the gov't!! They like to control your health (forcing the jab, masks, etc), & God help you if you're trying to do things the right / pure/ old fashioned way with no additives, pasteurization, etc.

Not sure what any of this has to do with Amish.. they might be good foods to keep on hand but they will not do you any good if you don’t know how to use them.. Amish foods if there is such a thing 🥴 are going to be foods we can raise ourselves, a garden, cow for dairy and meat, chickens for eggs and meat, a pig.. knowing how to preserve their own food is handed down generations.. true things such as sugar, flour, dried beans, baking soda etc yeast are bought in bulk especially if they have a large family.. the Amish have the reputation for frugality and homemade but be not deceived that doesn’t equal healthy it means that they can feed people without a lot of fancy ingredients.

Healthier than eating a bunch of commercial canned Spam and other commercially ultra-processed foods full of artificial additives and non-natural chemical preservatives and processes impossible to duplicate in the home. The narrator also pointed out the nutritional importance of everything on the list. Amish still live self-sufficiently and when SHTF they have no worries because already prepared. Today, few people would even know what to do with a wheat berry outside of a limited number of homesteaders and doomsday preppers. Many don't even know how to cook at all. Guess who is more likely not only to just to survive but also to thrive whenever SHTF!

Hello. I would not store dried kidney beans. In a disaster situation your ability to cook food could be extremely compromised and under-cooked kidney beans can cause severe illness. A couple of years ago a number of kids had to be hospitalized because they ate chili with under-cooked kidney beans at a school event. In addition, if you eat as few as 5 raw kidney beans it can be fatal so I would suggest using canned kidney beans instead of storing dried versions. There are a couple of other varieties of beans that can be toxic if under-cooked so you should check online for any dangers.

Great for skin and hair, when applied topically, but it doesn't belong inside your body. It's about as good for your insides as bacon grease. @@juliefall2892 It's not a healthy food. It's LOADED with saturated fat. We've known for decades that saturated fat is bad for our arteries, contributing to high cholesterol, high LDL, which translates to a much higher risk of heart attack and stroke. You can believe whatever nonsense you want, and eat whatever you want, but science says you'll eventually regret eating tropical oils, such as coconut oil and palm oil. Keep the coconut oil for external use, only, for hair, nails, and skin. It's very good for that. But don't put it in your stomach.

Sugar? I'm surprised that several here don't know all that it is guilty of, including many cancers. Amish markets would increase their sales if they would use Stevia baking sweetener instead, as many of their products are full of sugar which has come to a bad reputation when considering the various diseases it causes.

Really? I always thought it was kind of like brown rice and would go bad. You've got me thinking... I guess you are right because dried corn doesn't go bad so why would cornmeal? But on the other hand, wheat berries stay good but ground flour (even white flour) doesnt.

Why not mention beef jerky? If you had some of that you wouldn't need all those GMO, pesticide laden and toxic containing carbs. Protein and fatty acids are nutritionally complete essential foods the body needs to sustain health - carbs are not even needed, nor is the fiber they contain.
@Busybeemiss
@Busybeemiss Ай бұрын
Beef jerky is basically fat free. Insoluble fiber is needed - it’s what feeds the microbiome, we don’t need it but they do. Whole wheat berries are the only thing that saves for decades that will contain it. No microbiome - no immunity. Fermented sauerkraut (vitamin C!), legumes and whole wheat (prefer non-hybrid like spelt, kamut, einkorn) berries and a good fat combo are a complete diet if meat is not attainable. Quinoa is a complete protein if gluten intolerant.

Exactly. I live in a county full of Amish and Amish stores. Except for a ver occasional ham and bean soup; they don’t store or sell beans. They sell only a little corn meal and don’t cook with it. Straight up white flour. Some people throw the word Amish in front of their YT videos and gullible people believe it. Wheat berries; lol. Not here. In PA
