My daughter, now 19, has made jewelry, painted, and crafted in innumerable ways since she was a toddler. She has been teaching herself (with a little help from dad) to sew and alter her own clothes. I have always told her to respect and learn the old ways, that we will be glad to know them one day

This was nostalgia...my teacher who was pretty ignorant (very strict) in giving any special attention at my struggle of learning these stitches, failed me for needle work😢 since then I worked really hard to secure good grades in academics so that I can be taught computer science instead of needle work. Looking at this video reminded me of my sampler (red colour) which I threw away eventually. On watching this video I think I still need to learn this...thanks for reignition of this interest ❤❤

I don't do embroidery, but I learned all these during my elementary school years. I'm now turning 40. My favourite stitch is probably chain stitch bec. it was the only stitch I gained a perfect score for. My feather stitch's perfect score doesn't count since it was my Auntie Zen who did it. Kidding aside, I remember that I used two colours for my chain stitch assignment, black and orange, for Halloween. Thank you for this excellent video and more than that, for bringing to fore fond old memories.

You can adjust the speed of the video in the settings option (looks like a gear). Seeing her do it more slowly will probably help. Trying to learn one at a time by doing it will also probably help, because the stitches increase in difficulty.

Just slow the video down and cast to your TV and watch a couple of times. Then be ready to try and stop the video as needed and try it. I'm sure you will have little to no trouble. Start with easy stitches. Many little girls of 5 or 10 years old learn this. Also, search for other videos . I did it as a young child. You can do it ! I have faith in you. It's just scary when you first try. I wish i could sit down with you all and show you.
