I actually found that I do have some misgivings about the way a person with the potential to excell in sports is subjected to being seen as a merchandising vehicle. This deeper look at sports came about when it hit closer to home. My grandson has a brilliant mind...but he is 17 and 6'3" and solidly built, and from the time he had his growth spurt in junior high, football coaches excitedly ran up to him and TOLD him they were putting him in football. I love football, but I have mixed emotions about my grandson being steered into something that overlooks his potential to further develop his intellect. PS...I love football but only WORSHIP God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I can live without football, I cant imagine going back and living without God.
