We slept enough :) Some average 6-7h. In May the sun doesn't really set in Iceland, so there's plenty of light to visit some places late in the evening.

Really interesting to see the videos getting to the locations. I didn’t know you could walk up Kirkufell. I’ve done some but not all of those. Two really good walks that don’t require 4x4 are Laugerfell waterfall circle walk in the east and Aldeyjarfoss (south of Godafoss) which are both about 8km from where you park. And if you go to Laugerfell you pass the car park for Hengifoss - another amazing walk

Hi, Sebastian! We went there end of May until early June of last year. We booked hotels via booking.com. After selecting the top 20 trails, we calculated the time necessary for travelling by car using Google Maps. Then, we chose hotels that were close enough to the spots for the specific day.

Our focus was on hiking, so we drove from one spot to the next one. But no, it didn't feel rushed. The sun sets very late so you can basically visit the places up until midnight or so. We did the ring road in 7 days + 3 days in Reykjavik and Golden Circle.

I have a question about the volcano. I thought it was the most amazing site on your trip but no drone footage. Was the area restricted for drone flights? I realize it would be insane to fly a drone over the top of it, but around the perimeter would have worked.

The reason is that there was heavy wind. You can see a glimpse of it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqrQdKeQeJd_opY Actually, the met service even advised not to do the hike on that day due to the stormy conditions. Nevertheless, I tried to launch the drone, but after 2 secs understood I would just lose it. Some medics who were situated at the site told me more than a hundred drones had been already lost there. 🙂
