I am retiring in 3 years and have my mind set on S.D. I was set on Rapid City but after watching this video I have to rethink that. I just hope that it stays affordable. The home prices mentioned are incredible. I am renting a studio apartment in Brooklyn N.Y. for $1,500 a month.

This you tube flic is way off in reality. South Dakota is a great place as I have 50 + years as a resident. Be smart, make your own judgement and do not rely on this video. Real estate and average income prices are way off/ out of date.

The film says that Watertown is good because it has the Watertown airport from where you can commute to Philadelphia in an hour. I'll bet the people in Philadelphia didn't know that. If you're planning to go from Watertown to Philadelphia I'd give it a little bit more time just to be safe.

Prices are way out of date. I live in Hot Springs, having moved here from Palm Springs, CA. I evaluated many places in SD a before moving here, and for me, this town is perfect at this point in my life. I am originally from NYC.

I'd never thought of SD as a place to live, but this video of the towns and cities really opened my eyes. Of course I live in CA where the state is gorgeous, but the government really sucks. South Dakota really looks great.

@@albuquerqueturkey1567 Sales Tax exists on everything including groceries. Some counties also have a wheel tax i.e you pay x amount per wheel on your vehicle. However, coming from a state that had both personal income tax and business tax and owning a house here in SD. I end up paying much less in taxes overall even with property tax figured in. The answer is they are much better with their budget.

Rapid City - has a major park area that runs mies through the City along Rapid Creek available for runners and walkers. Like to fish, there are plenty of brown trout in Rapid Creek. There is the Black Hills Museum, great shopping, a public ice rink in the middle of town (winter) and some fabulous unique store, such as Prairie Edge. Perhaps you want to walk around Canyon Lake, or picnic there. Have children, or grandchildren? How about the free Story Book Island. This video is SUPERFICIAL for all that Rapid City offers. The best move we ever made by us to raise a family and live in an outstanding community. YOU KNOW this video is shabby insight when they say LOL - Ft. PeeAir - it is pronounced Peer.

I lived in Rapid City for 34 years. This video is decieving. Old buildings, lazy workers, low wages, v-e-r-y high rent (still rising!). Beautiful landscape with wicked cold. These videos are meant to bring in $ to boost a hurting economy.

It's a very good place to be overall! November thorough March can be super cold, but that's really the only complaint I hear. It's very peaceful and the air is fresh. Sioux Falls is just a 50 minute drive south too, so you have every store you'd ever want within an hour. Brookings has all the main things you'd need, but I'm just talking about more stores and more options in Sioux Falls (Costco, Sam's Club, Target, etc). There's really nowhere else I'd rather live! It's also cheaper than 95% of the country to live.@@NapkinEdStern

I've lived in Mobridge,Aberdeen, Pierre and Ft. Pierre, Sioux Falls Rapid City and they were friendly towns but I feel if you don't have a rather good education and good work history and any kind of police record your low on the hiring and getting a half decent place to live but it's friendless beats the snooty people in Missouri live live in Missouri seems like angry ass drug and most either on Disability or pan handling for a live They don't want to work or be responsible rather get it free or steal it pan handle .
