I am retiring in 3 years and have my mind set on S.D. I was set on Rapid City but after watching this video I have to rethink that. I just hope that it stays affordable. The home prices mentioned are incredible. I am renting a studio apartment in Brooklyn N.Y. for $1,500 a month.

Whomever wrote this is a real comedian. Ames. I had 2 uncles who taught at ISU, and Dad retired there. Taxes are sky high, decent homes are too. Sports tickets are extremely expensive, season tickets are ridiculous. The town goes absolutely dead in the summer when the students leave, and there is nothing to do. North Grand Mall is empty. Downtown is fairly nice. Watch where you buy or build, or rhey'll build student apartments-which are also expensive-on top of you. Urbandale. Stay out. It's getting rough. Really stay out of the Drake University area-high crime. Love old houses? Try around Grand Avenue. Stay out of Beaverdale-it floods. Live on the west side. Things to do, less crime, better schools. Pella. Stay out. Overun during Tulip Festival, and it's a closed community, with a very odd religion. If you're not Dutch, from there, or of the religiion, forget it. Careful of eastern lowa river towns-lots of drugs. Stay to the east and northeast over there. Western Iowa. Unless youre near Omaha, and can summer up north at Arnold's Park, forget it. Boring and ugly.

I am from Upper East Tennessee and lived in Hinds County 1975-78 and 1981-85. It was a cultural shock for me, both politically and economically. But, the people I met while there are lasting friendships.

Sioux Falls 6?!?!? Just spent 2 weeks Doordashing in Sioux Falls while staying with my father. Do not go down 12th street if you think Sioux Falls is a place you want to live. Wow. Naked people walking down the sidewalk, prostitutes jumping in and out of cars, and so many drug addicts all in broad daylight. Hot Springs #1?!?!?! Wow. I lived in Hot Springs in the 1970s...what a shithole.

Who on earth wrote this garbage?! Horrible pronunciations by some kind of talking machine, bad grammar, ridiculous choices of vocabulary, and there are certainly nicer towns in the state than some that are listed. And the very second picture (which was used later too) is not even Mississippi, it's New Orleans! Bay Street Looey?? Oh, you mean Bay Saint Louis. At least Biloxi got pronounced right; that was amazing.

Boise I would give a thumbs down it is the worst place to live it's very expensive the taxes are very high people are very rude people drive like morons and home prices are in the millions of dollars. Boise, Idaho is by far the worst city to call home. I would pick Grangeville, Lewiston, Moscow, Idaho over Boise, Idaho Boise should have not made the list.

As and Africa American, I've travel Idaho, on the 4th of July I found myself in Bosie they where having a parade. I found it lacked diversity. I was the only African American there. Downtown was nice the Mall and parks all where clean and walkable. Restaurants I found where fine, but service was slow. It has a African American Museum, a prison and the highway 84 was easy to navigate. I also travel up to Maccall, Idaho. Again it lacked diversity. Which makes one feel that they are a fly on the wall. Most people you come across knows your visiting. you don't feel pressure of indifference, but most know your need to eat, rest, and experience the time there. Most complain that outsiders make it expensive. But if change doesn't happen growth isn't possible. The values of homes, Job growth all contributes to opportunity. Most cities that experience growth benefit from the tax dollars that help present business and services like transportation which most locals done see as a benefit. But they blame outsiders with bringing unwanted change, but enjoy you to come spend and leave. Never taking in account of the many things they bring. Like Ideas, Tax dollars, and a blend of culture. Sad the fear of change points to the one's who feel left behind, because they don't envision moving forward because they are afraid it points to the fact they aren't ready for change and want things to stay the same. So sad. It's not just Idaho, it's most cities. look at when immigrants come the complain is they will change our way of life take jobs, crime and the list goes on. But turn the coin over and face your fears. 5/17/24
