as someone who hopped from one capsule to another for 7 days. cheap is always to go, its basically a place to put your bag and sleep while you explore the city/town. the onsen is just an added feature. the one in Sapporo that i stayed in had no onsen in the place but gave you a voucher to use an affiliated giant capsule/spa. that spa had 2 massive warm bath, 1 small one and 1 big icy bath. it also had 2 sauna rooms, one is set at boiling temperature...which had a challenge which i sort of joined in. i lasted for 10 mins before my brain said nope.

As someone who stayed in the Tokyo Hilton at a higher level suite (since I travel for work and got a ton of points), it's pretty good. But it doesn't have quite as many Japanese inspired touches (outside of the premium buffet which includes fresh squeezed OJ), you won't get a bathtub unless you get an upgrade, and there are other options too. APA International is ~$80 a night, you'll get a clean compact room like the capsule, but it's also located in popular areas with a short walking distance. Which is the most important thing, IMHO, of a hotel.

No, I love the night-shirt transition! Quite a difference between the two "rooms." The bike lock is your room safe! Very Japanese. I blew past the Audible segment. Good tie-in though - they could help the traveling experiences for sure. And you're getting some scratch for it. So not too shabby!

I am looking at traveling to Tokyo in the coming months, however I have a question about the storage situation. I saw the little mini lockers, but what if you are bringing a suitcase with ya.... is there like a separate holding area for bulk stuff? Or is it just best not to try with larger luggage?

I prefer the $60 room, not a fan of how the $20 room is designed it being smaller is fine but it looks super dated and I prefer showers over baths. But, the free breakfast is also a nice touch for the $20 room.
