@@Bumper776It's not important that you believe. It's only important that I once got to meet Hal Holbrook when he was touring as Mark Twain. It was after his performance on stage in Austin, Tx. He did a little meet and greet with fans, and was still wearing his stage makeup. It was a real thrill, and he couldn't have been nicer. No connection with Andy Griffith show, but I hate it when people ask for proof of meeting famous folks. It shows how little we trust one another in this modern world. That's why folks still love the show, and the world it portrayed. 'The good old days', when you trusted your neighbors, or even a stranger. Even with the real issues of those times, there was a basic decency and respect among people. Was everything perfect? Of course not, but there were some basic values that were present then that seem to be absent now. I might be sanitizing some of the problems that existed then, and still exist now, but when trust among people vanishes, then how can we begin to solve all the other issues of modern life in this wild new century. Not even AI can help us with that. Pardon the lecture, but Mayberry seems like a town I wish really existed in a place other than our memories. At least, I got to shake Mark Twain's hand. Or Hal Holbrook's. Lovely person, by the way!

The fake jail house isn't very close to what the jail was on the show. They built it right next to the real Wally's filling station. I thought it was just a built up thing too, until I felt when I stepped on a piece of plywood, and said to the lady this place must have had a basement. She told me, no, that's the lube rack. We talked to her for about 20 minutes, and found out it was the actual Wally's filling station, that Andy based it on. The original owner and Andy's father were cousins. He used to hang out there as a kid, so when he made the show, He put Wally's filling station into it.
