That's what kids lack these days. Butt whooping in schools were common place in the 80s and 90s.... Hard times make hard men Hard men make easy times Easy times make soft men Soft men make hard times So the cycle goes

It was a beautiful time in America. It wasn't perfect but a ton better than today's America. You can have your progressive trash.

Definition of the little boy was doing didn't just start so it was going to take more than a woodshed to stop it but that's a good start but it's got to be consistent you know our parents didn't play that not the black ones!!! Thanks Dad and Mom

My parents didn't need a woodshed, they clobbered me wherever we were if I misbehaved.

I interpreted that as the cop offering to get the Dad away from the chaos to smoke a cigar or have a drink or something. To hang out somewhere manly. I didn't even think about him whooping that kids ass, lol. Makes more sense now.

No child should ever know about a woodshed ever, being physically and mentally abused like that is sadistic and uncalled for, no childhood memories should be horrific.

Back in the days when parents were allowed to beat their kids. I, for one, have absolutely no nostalgia for those days. Too often "discipline" happened simply because Dad was angry at the world & wanted someone to take it out upon. That being said, the kid IS a brat. Sell the bike or otherwise teach him actions have consequences.

You missed the best part where Opey says is he going to get a spanking Pa, Andy said, don't you think he deserves it, Opey says I don't want to say, after all he is one of my own kind. 😂 this was one of my favorite Andy Griffith. I have shown all my grandchildren this episode so they don't behave like that 😅

Spanking his kid for the first time won’t change the fact he’s been a bad father for years. Sell the bike for sure, but maybe spend time with your kid before punishing him for acting like you. Andy was a very patient father to Opie
