-20 DEGREES AT THE PAKISTAN - CHINA BORDER 🇵🇰🇨🇳 | KHUNJERAB PASS, NORTHERN PAKISTAN

Come with us as we travel to the HIGHEST paved border crossing in the world between China and Pakistan. We also spot a World Record Pakistan holds so keep your eyes out for that! The Khunjerab pass is in the very North of Pakistan and we are faced with extremely cold weather at an altitute of 4,693m above sea level. Join us for this adventure to one of the most extreme borders in the world!
We also want to discuss the cost of the entrence to foreigners vs locals into the National park. Whilst we understand being a tourist in a foreign country means we will offten pay higher prices than locals and accept this - the price of the entrance to the NP was a shock to us, our driver and guide.
The cost for foreigners 11,000 PKR / 40 USD vs locals 500 PKR / 1.80 USD was taking the p*ss. We were told the price was 5,000 PKR / 18 USD only a few months ago so we are not sure if this is the new cost or only over the quieter winter months. Either way in our opinion it seems pretty crazy to be charging this higher price for foreigners.

The entry ticket for foreigners in Khunjarab National Park is very high and should be reduced to a reasonable level. The government didn't want foreigners to visit this area, so the fee was high. But totally illogical and unjustified.

New subscriber here! Thanks for sharing your travel experience and amazing trips! Do you have to enter the park to get to the khunjerab pass? Or is there a way around it? I am planning a trip too but 40 dollars for entrance fee to a park seems pretty steep even by western standards.

Thanks! So to get to the pass you need to enter the national park and pay the entry fee and you also must have an armed escort to come with you through the national park for security. We found this frustrating as we ended up paying quite a lot of money for a driver/park entry. I dont know if that cost is year round or if they increase it in winter due to less tourists but the price had only changed recently when we visited. Honestly it did seem a lot of money even for western standard BUT we thought it was worth it 😎

Western Embassies charge high amounts for Visa from Pakistanis and other Asians, even in refused cases too (I mean when application for Visa is rejected but Visa Fees is not refunded). So, if at such highest beautiful places and locations Pakistan charges you guys more than own Nationals, then it's not CRAZY and not a big deal.

As we said, we don’t mind paying extra but I think this example is a bit extreme. 22x the price for a foreigner vs a local is not fair. However, it’s still worth it for the incredible Khunjerab pass.
