The one thing I wish Skellige had, was actual ships traveling back and forth between the islands. It doesn’t need to be that much, maybe 2-3 ships at a time? I mean, for an island nation, it makes very little sense that there aren’t any ships traveling back and forth between the different settlements on the islands.

It's amazing how alive is the Witcher world CD Projekt created. If Cyberpunk 2077 has a fraction of the replayabilty of The Witcher 3 it will blow me away.
@Ramurod4 жыл бұрын
I hope so. But I will be sceptical until I have played it myself. The Witcher was an overall outstanding experience. The setting 100% fits my taste and if I hear the background music in this video it still gives me goosebumps. Everything is absolutely believable in this game. The reason I will stay sceptical is because Cyberpunk is a totally different setting. I trust CD project red, that they will put their heart and soul into this game, but this doesnt mean that it must be also that good compared to the Witcher. This futuristic setting isnt my favourite and the trailers were good, no question, but for me it was lacking this mystical component, that made the witcher 3 so special. The amazing music, paired with the amazing setting, thats what made the Witcher so special. Often I was just standing there and watched my sourrounding. Not one second I doubt that Cyberpunk will be an amazing game. But its another kind of game. Its gameplay will be much faster. I hope this will not destroy the fun of just exploring the beautiful landscape. Cyberpunk will take play in some futuristic world made out of stone and asphalt. I honestly doubt, that it will be that amazing to explore. But we will see, I hope that I am wrong. Hopefully they will create Witcher 4 after that. They mentioned that the story of Gerald is over but I would be happy as well with Ciri as the main character.

@@friedrichnevermind Sooo nice! Thanks for letting me know! I am aware that it will still take a long, long time until the Witcher 4 will be released, because they havent even started its development, but thats amazing news. I hope that Cyberpunk will be a great game, because then we have another great CD project red game to play in the near future and hopefully it will give them the money and ressources to speed up the developing process of the next Witcher game a little bit. Not too much of course, because what seperates CD project red from many other AAA-publishers is their way of developing. So that they still put their time and heart into it, so that every little detail is just perfect. If you have to release a new game every 12 months, you simply can not put that much love into a project. Even if the developers try to make up for that with having a way larger team, because having to many people working on it can bring other problems that can negatively influence the result. I am still a little bit sceptical, because Cyberpunks setting and game mechanics will differ so much from the Witcher games, but hopefully it will surprise me in a positive way. That they delayed the release date is a good sign. It shows again, that even if the game is completely playable, they dont want to release a product that isnt polished to the max. And thats something we should really appreciate, in times, were many games are unplayable and unfinished at release date. Were you have to wait for the first major bug fixes, to just experience the games without huge problems.

The problem with Odyssey is almost all side quests and even some main quests are either fetch quests or go here, kill that, here's a reward. One of the things that sets Witcher 3 apart from other games is the fact that contracts, side quests and a few treasure hunts are main quest quality, if not better. I have hundreds of hours in Witcher and even though I have atleast 10 hours left in my current run, I'm already planning my fifth and sixth. The game has so much amazing content, and I highly doubt I have seen anywhere near everything this game has to offer. I'm still discovering new things every playthrough. 9 things you might have missed in skellige: 1: At 11:42 Something you might have missed is if you choose to let jonna live, after a couple of days go back to the house of the cursed child. Now you can see there is a guy axing woods outside their house. Wait till it gets dark and the guy will come inside and sit on a chair inside the house. This might be the new partner of his mother and the now-stepfather of the child. 2: You can actually save jorund from dying. His death is scripted at the end of Contract: The Phantom of Eldberg if one hasn't completed King's Gambit yet. However, if King's Gambit is completed before the contract, the fight will never happen and thus he lives. However, doing the above to save him will lock you out of the following quests: Stranger in a Strange Land, The Cave of Dreams, and An Unpaid Debt. One trick however to not miss the cave of dreams contract is to go directly to to the cave location before collecting your reward from jorund ( or starting his quest). You can encounter Blueboy Lugos' ship near a cave southeast of Holmstein's Port and Kaer Muire. There you can start the quest. 3: There is actually a Secret Chest in Skellige (Kaer Muire Mountain). Just go on top of the mountain on Kaer Muire and you will stumble upon a chest. Wont reveal whats inside, its for you to find out. :) 4: Another one, there is actually a lot of hidden chest and a big genie like bottle or something that is used for alchemy below the distillery Southeast of the Palisade and northwest of Grotto. You can go there when you start the associated quest: Practicum in Advanced Alchemy. After finishing the quest, go out of the cave and on the wooden stair just outside the cave, slide down the mountain and on the bottom, you can find the chest where you can loot some good stuff including an alchemy diagram which can be found if you swim on the shore and dive down the water. But before doing that, there is actually a rotten corpse on the left side of the shore which looks like Gunter o Dimm or should i say GOD :) I think you can loot something from him which might be an apple which in reference to the garden of eden story wherein adam and eve saw the truth when eating an apple. I think Gunters purpose is like how the snake or satan performed his actions on the garden of eden. The rest is for your own interpretation. 5. On the Lord of Undvik quest, when you reach the area of master armorers cave associated quest, you can actually go on top of the mountain. Climb up to the top and slide your way down like a ski and turn right so your path would go down directly to the house. Its a very long and satisfying slide. Probably the longest one ive done. The path is also clear. 6: You can actually follow cerys after her argument with her brother during the opening of kings gambit quest. She will go down to the stairs and breath some fresh air to cool down on the balcony of the castle. There you can trigger a conversation with her. 7: At 16:05 There is actually a post script where svanrige actually ended the feud with all the clans and established a monarchy himself patterned after the continent but on the cost of blood of his people thus eliminating the voting system of the vikings which contradicts the notion of the freedom to vote in skellige and the uniqueness of its politics. 8. To confirm svanrige accusations with her mother that she told him to stay outside the feast hall, you can actually find him on his room on the right top just outside the feast hall. There he is standing beside his bed. 9 - Inaccesible place of power in Kaer trolde. But hear me out first. My unconventional choice despite criticism from others is hjalmar to be a crowned as king. Despite being hot-headed, he has the counsel of his sister and his father. Yeah, birna will not be convicted, but i hate the idea of banishing svanrige when you help cerys despite svanrige actually accused his own mother. I think the devs were critical about hjalmar. Even to the point of putting a quen (queen) place of power which is only accessible if you choose cerys. Hjalmar is a true embodiment of a skelligan. That is there way of life, though it might be not peaceful to other but through time with the help of her sister and his father, i think he will be a good king. I just can feel that CDPR is biased towards hjalmar. He is a nice guy, even helps geralt in battle in kaer morhen which he has a funny scene that he WWE one of the wild hunt soldier and went inside the portal, but was transported back because the hunt might have been shocked with what he has done. Haha. Even though in my own interpretation, birna will again strike and conduct another assassination towards hjalmar, he told geralt that he will be more suspicious and look more closely behind his back. Geralt even mentions to cerys that hjalmar is impetuous but not stupid. (Thus, he knows about the legend of the Vildkaarls who transforms into bears). Well, that is all I can remember xletalis, thanks and cheers mate.

The best detail about Skellige for me personally is that most of the towns/villages in the Skellige isles are named after actual locations in Norway. I was raised in the very real town of Larvik, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciated its namesake in one of the best games of all time.

The Cerys path is better, the berserkers are formidable warriors, if Skellige ever gets invaded by the Nilfgaardians again, Skellige will need the berserkers, and she would probably be capable of marrying a foreign ruler and unifying their countries. Hjalmar keeps tradition up and his people happy but he's poking the hornet's nest, on the sea he could probably fend off the black ones but on land they are no match against trained and disciplined soldiers, once Nilfgaard makes it to shore its pretty much game over for them. I am proud of them both though, true warriors of steel and mind alike.

SHADOW REALM - I have to disagree about Nilfgaard chances in a direct assault on Skellige. If the Nilfgaardians ever attacked the Skelligers directly, Skellige would easily outmatch the Nilfgaardians in close combat with their hardened battle skills, brute strength and extremely brutal & proficient counter offensive tactics. IOW, land traps, grenades, siege weapons and sabotage. Most of the 'Black Un's' generals and military command are classically schooled dandies. They couldn't last more than a few seconds against Skellige's armies on their own territory. Even with their better armor and weapons. The reason that Nilfgaard would, however, win a prolonged war against Skellige has to do with their advantage over Skellige on sheer numbers, general technology and military cohesiveness. Also, the Nilfgaard Empire has a much more productive and far more profitable government & society. Which means they have near unlimited resources to call on. Including mercenary armies and navy fleets. The wild card, though, that could win the war for either side is, of course, magic. Depending on who has the best access to the best magic would be all it would take to snatch defeat away from the enemy. Now, Cerys clearly understood all of this. She was the smart one. The most determined and most resourceful. She was always the best choice for Skellige's future.
@swe123swe5 жыл бұрын
Its funny because if you choose cerys there is a suggestion that while she brings prosperity for a time, their lack of military focus leads to skellige being ill equipped for the advancing tide of nilfgaardians. Hjalmar is pretty much the reverse but he also has issues with discontent brewing at home in spite of several victories against nilfgaard

Oh man, every time I learn something new about the Witcher it always baffles me how great of a game came out of such a comparatively small studio. The details are insane. Also the fact that in many quests you don't get a "well done"-medal but just have to live with your own consciousness is pretty cool, that feeling of doubt that you forgot something or didn't make the right choice without ever getting a definitive answer. Cerys or Hjalmer? It's a tough choice if really do care, while i just go with the one i like the most as a character (Cerys) there is pros and cons to both rulers. *Spoilers* Hjalmer will rule skellige as it has been ruled for pretty much ever, plundering the sea, make skellige strong by showing outlanders that they are not to be triffled with, He would make an excellent commander in war and a good king to his people as not that much change would come if he was to be elected king. Cerys on the other hand does want to make change, while still keeping the isles strong she instead choses to welcome trade to the isles as well as starting to live off of the land instead of relying solely on the sea to provide. While alot of skelligers wouldnt agree with Cerys's methods right off the bat they are bound to pay off eventually. While not as great a warrior as Hjalmer she's a better diplomat and Would make an excellent queen if she gets elected.
@xElias014 жыл бұрын
I don’t know if this was already covered, but should you travel to Skellige before doing ANY research on Ciris whereabouts in Velen and or Novigrad, Geralt will tell Yen (at the funeral of King Bran) that he hasn’t found out anything as of yet! There’s even a dialogue option which goes something like „Haven’t found out anything yet. I just came here as fast as possible“ upon which Yennefer says something about how she expected Geralt to travel to Skellige only after completing his search for Ciri on the continent and that now they’ll start searching on Skellige since they’re both there already! Intersting detail one can easily miss since I doubt anybody would do things so much out of order!

i believe in skellige there is a point up high on a mountian which looks like a stone monument. there is a poem on a bit of parchment at the foot of the structure which intimates that you should find the point where the tip of the structure casts a shadow into a nearby valley under the noon sun. if you go to that point, there is a chest half buried in the earth and some loot inside. i missed it on my first 3 playthroughs.

So here's two I recently found, not sure if anyone else found them. 1) on one the islands on the top right corner. If you explore the island you find what looks like a funeral pyre with a big brown bear on it with 2 chests. 2) (and this one intrigues me) again in top right corner area you find a ship, with bodies tied to the ropes going to the sails. Then on the steering wheel you find a body crucified to it. Does it belong to a quest or something? There's no treasure to it and it didn't trigger anything? Maybe a forgotten or drop quest from developers?
@nilsjonsson11334 жыл бұрын
I found this isle by chance while just random exploring recently and it creeped me the fuck out. There is also a huge swarm of birds over the big tree near the bear that makes the isle look ominous from a distance. Like what the hell happened here? Overall exploring the unmarked small islands of Skellige is something I'd recommend to anyone who's not easily bored. Several more of them have interesting and/or creepy details hidden on them.

So true, in almost every quest most of the npcs just seem to vanish after the quest like they never existed. If they're still there, they won't have much or any dialogue. And the npcs are not much different from any other game object. But in the Witcher series it feels so real, even NPCs have lives of their own, routines, schedules, opinions, personalities. They continue living their lives even after the quest ends, and the outcome of the quest is very clear in how they lead their lives.

Crusader Nick - I was annoyed that option never came up, because I would have ploughed her in a heartbeat. Even if it meant Yen teleporting Geralt's balls into a volcano (or monster nest). Sorry Geralt. It was for a worthy cause.

I missed at least a few of these that I can remember. I do remember there are more than a few of those Nazca Lines on Spikeroog that you can see if you manage to get up high enough. I believe you were the only one that has mentioned them at all out of the videos I have watched.

Cerys, not only is she level headed and does things by the brain not the brawn like Hjalmar would. But her Quint card makes the whole Skellige deck viable in the first place.

I've played through this game at least 4 different times and I never knew that you could loot back the 1000 coins you paid to the captain to sail you to Skellige. I guess that obvious fact flew right over my head...or ran aground over a rocky outcropping.
