There is a limited on the ecm that prevents the Jake from coming on below 30 mph the dealer or a shop can go in and adjust that to a lower speed so your Jake will work.

4low is where it’s touchy it only works in 4th gear, When in hi range the brake kicks off at 10mph

Great video..That machine gets alot done in a day. Have you ever had the hydraulic psi pressure tested on your 310? The booklet says about 4100psi., Have you ever hooked up a hydraulic pressure gauge to actually get your psi setting.

Thank you, she kicks some butt out there for sure. And yes she’s been tested. And even have the gauges on the monitor showing psi output on the machine if you want to. Shows your track pressure and the pump output pressure

I was taught when in the hills if you go up the hill in 6 gear shift down to fifth gear when you are on the decending part of the hill This is hard in a pickup because you don't have all the gears like a big rig has. I was 14 years old when I learned to drive a semi . It was a 1956 kenworth with a 5 speed main box 📦 and a 4 speed brownie transmission. It was a 3 axle factor no front brakes . The engine was a iron lung Cummins small bore 743 Cid 275 horse 🐎 power. I was taught to drive with out using the clutch. The clutch was only for starting and coming to a stop ✋️. Every time ⏲️ I ground a gear I got hit in the shoulder. It was fun . I went with my uncle to reno Nevada in this semi pulling a gross load 60000lb we were doing about 18 miles per hour most of the way . A lot of shifting and hard work. There was no sound insulation and to talk to each other you had to yell .I would not trade those times for anything in the world. That’s some old time hauling right here lol. For only being a 6 speed she takes care of her self pretty well. Going down grades I could go faster but no need for it if I had a few in between gears but she’ll hold back the 310 fullly loaded in 3rd gear perfect going down 6% doing about 40-50 mph

Damn I really thought 4Lo was locked to 1st gear only. ive only ever used 4lo to pull stuck people out or skid logs in a pinch so ive always been at low speed thinking thats all it goes up to.

So I actually hit 4th gear the other day and the exhaust brake did turn on however the trans unlocked at about 1500 rpm and the brake kicked off really fast. I’m going to want to see if there’s a tune on this people are saying there is but I haven’t seen any proof on it yet

@@IManOPERATOR Im deleted with a Raceme Ultra and my exhaust brake shuts off once I pass under 25mph but I know there are some people that have gone as low as 5mph and even on Idle. Im in Texas so no one really cares if anything is emissions compliant, Local dealerships recommend them, all of the City's trucks are deleted and yearly inspection takes literally 2 minutes. Im sure there are some emissions intact tunes that you can find for specifically what you were doing here going down grades. Its also nice that my Exhaust brake setting is saved so I dont have to remember to click it back on everytime I turn the truck on or off.

I just finished watching the video. Everything he’s saying is correct, however the largest factor is the reverse leverage on the truck. Truck frame bent upwards not down, and also really depending on the road and trails he’s been on I can see many trucks frames yielding like this. Campers put so much torque and twist on a chassis and with this one not having enough forward weight doesn’t help, just like if I put my truck on a 2 post life you can see the cab and bed side body like pull away from each other. Frames are made to be loaded down how the engineers made them to support and hold themselves, just like even on a dump truck I’ve seen on personally snap a frame on a job site the clay dirt was stuck in the dump box and when he tried to back up and slam the brakes the upward pull on broke one side of the frame on the truck. Going back to the two post reason why you always but screw jacks under any large truck to help support that rear leveraged weight I’m sure there’s been photos of many trucks with the frame failing on a two post and that with nothing in the bed most likely.

@@michaelfrank6696 ehh that’s something I can’t say for sure. The ford frames do flex more on cross loading where you can’t open up the tail gate but ram frames stay ridged even when cross loaded. It could be bad or good. Just like something to hard can be brittle but something to soft can bend, finding that happy in between can be difficult

30ft deck, long as your blow 32k lbs on the deck weight for my trailer you’re good however I’m sure for that application you’re fan want a 34-38 foot trailer however that length will drop the payload by a smidge
