Bear Lake is a gorgeous lake on the border of Utah and Idaho. In this video, we'll take you to Tremonton, Utah to see the home of the Candy Bomber. Then we'll see some smaller towns like Brigham City and Logan before driving through Logan Canyon to see beautiful Bear Lake.
From Bear Lake, we'll see some Old West sights like the Oregon Trail Center in Montpelier, Idaho, the bank that Butch Cassidy robbed, and Soda Springs, where pioneers along the Oregon Trail used to stop to make soda pop!
Then it's off to Preston, Idaho, where Napoleon Dynamite was filmed! Finally, we'll soak in some hot springs in Lava Hot Springs before finishing up at the Golden Spike National Historic site.

Love your video, especially since I am a Utah State Alumna, I attended USU from 9\1978 to 8\1982, and got my degree the following June 1983, after I spent 1982-1983 Ski Season working at Alta Ski Lifts as a Ticket Seller, best job ever. Lived up at Alta. Also spent time at Bear Lake, Tony Grove Lake and Logan Canyon, up into Idaho, Jackson Hole, and Helena Montana, for the February 1979, Solar Eclipse - School Field Trip. Saw totality in the grass range area.

Great video. I visited Bear Lake back in 2006 heading north from Sslt Lake City to Yellowstone and again in 2013 going in the opposite direction. I love that Montpelier celebrate that the local bank was robbed by Butch Cassidy and his gang. 😀 My favorite town in Idaho though is Island Park. This is the only place I have been where the city office shares building with a gas station/general store, or maybe Wallace with the famous sewer cover and the bordello museum 😉

Loved the video and I've done parts of this drive many times. One of my favorite spots is Minnetonka Cave just northwest of Bear Lake.

After moving from Davis Co., Utah to OC, CA my Dr’s family long ago came from Paris, Idaho. Yep, that one stop sign town. His great or great great grandfather had settled there with his many wives. Dr was surprised I knew where that town was (Bear Lake).

Just more reasons to visit Utah. I had planned a trip in 2020 that included the Big 5 and Logan Pass but covid, and my doctor, said stay home. So much to see in Utah that I may need a whole month to view it all. What time of year is best to travel the entire state and staying in campgrounds only? I love small towns, they are so interesting. Thanks for another great video and information source.

Great video, but to correct a small error...The Berlin Airlift didn't take place until mid-1948, three years after the end of World War II.

@@WereintheRockies Actually the Frank Church Wilderness ,a collection of many connecting national forests, is the largest federally managed wilderness in the United States outside of Alaska. The Sawtooth area is gorgeous, but not the largest nor in the Frank Church.
