I agree with Psycho. The Silence of The Lambs was a poor adaptation, which would have been much better if the dialogue had not been drowned out by the overbearing music, and if the narrative had stuck to the genius plot of the novel - although, I must admit, the escape scene in the movie was terrifying perfection.

I'd say it's because the title says "the greatest horror movies", which these are objectively not. Plus I think horror fans are more passionate about their favourite genre (and movies) than any other movie genre fans, in my experience. Most of the movies in this list were cookie-cutter horror movies , were not in any way original, and are frankly quite boring and not terrifying in any way. The characters are one-dimensional nitwits that try too hard to be identifiable with the audience members. One exception is the Return of the Living Dead because it has that 80s charm to it.
@dcole89107 жыл бұрын
Señor MeinKrafter2020 Yeah you have a point! The title should not say “Greatest of all time” its mostly just opinions. Even if they were ranked on every single detail, people would still have different opinions on what ranks are more important etc.

Troy Annells Cannible Holocaust is Famous for Its realistic gore and blood. Till this day, it's never considered a Classic nor is it better than Blair Witch. Even All Critics shut it down immediatly for its boring slow footage shoots. Blair Witch is considered a Classic by Many, but in truth it doesn't really hold up after the disaster of Book of Shadows. Blair Witch (2016) should have been its second entrance instead.
@troyannells46427 жыл бұрын
BMA SH of course its consisted a classic and critics have never been kind to Italian horror.

Troy Annells It's hardly a film though. But it did trick people😂😂

@Saint Butters, @BMA SH, @Duddelwuddel Looper's list is crap, and you people are stupid, if not are also rather fake horror buffs who need to get off your high horses to say the least. Troy Annells is right about everything he said as well as with each film he listed, however I personally disagree about The Blair Witch Project being boring, because even though it's quite slow-burning, it's far from being boring. The atmosphere is superbly eerie. Cannibal Holocaust & Event Horizon are total cult-classics and will always be a couple of my all-time favorites; not to mention according to many (and not just myself) are also two of the greatest horror films ever made, so stop hating.

Saw,Psycho,Halloween,The Exorcist. They did something brand new. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre too. Those are best horrors of all time. 1922 Nosferatu and 1931 Dracula one of oldest
@nofreebeer6 жыл бұрын
Good call on the first Saw. I agree with Nosferatu, but the age of the film gets lost on even the most esteemed reviews and it is likely due to the lack of voice. We anticipate emotion from both voice and facial reactions rarely one or the other. Christopher Lee was the first terrifying Dracula that I saw so I would really go with 1958 Horror of Dracula, but Horror films do not have to be terrifying to be great as we oft forget.

The author of The Exorcist book, hates that the movie is thought of as a horror movie. he says it is a drama about the struggle between good and evil and about human courage.

yung broomstick hella thicc Well, there’s a lot more to horror movies than only being scary, imo. I enjoyed the new It immensely even though I didn’t necessary think the horror scenes were that scary or the most working part of the film. In many occasion, there are now days way too many jump scares and not enough story or growing intension, or right type of atmosphere, with paper-thin characters. Thankfully the last ten years has given us the new generation of horror films which has shown that the ”future of horror” has a lot of potential.

No mention of The Phantom of the Opera from 1925. It was quite horrifying for the time and still is somewhat horrifying today, all thanks to lead actor Lon Chaney. The promotional material was not allowed to show Chaney's face in the film in order to save the fear of seeing the Phantom's face. It lived up to its hype, as many audience members seeing it fainted at the sight of Chaney's face.

Yee, Babadook was a good idea and trailers were spooky but the movie was meh.
@yagirl1777 жыл бұрын
It was more of a psychological thriller not so much horror. But I personally agree, I really liked Babadook

Of course you would hate it. It has a story line you have to pay attention to. The evil is subtle and actually realistic. The people are real and it can actually happen. Evil Dead is goofy (I mean when in real life are you going to actually have Zombie Demon activity as much as we would all love that? There is no way anyone could be scared by that. Blair Witch is nausea inducing imo but it is scary in that we have all been in that situation where we think something is out there in the woods.
